I would say that is a great service to them. It doesn't solve all of their problems, but it does solve some for those who truly are in need...and weeds out those who are fakers.

From my experience I found that homeless people fall into three main groups.
1. Mentally Ill.
2. Drug and alcohol dependent.
3. Genuinely need temporary help.
#1 and #2 overlap each other.
Most chronically homeless people already know where the homeless shelters and free food is.
Admirable but messages of love and encouragement are meaningless to a homeless person if they are less than lucid because of medication non compliance.
Many of the people who are homeless and panhandle want cash not food.
Homeless people become dependent on the generosity of others and when that is not available many become dependent on criminal activity to survive.
Again an admirable idea but what it will also do is create more garbage and trash. Ever see all the trash around a homeless shelter.

Just make an effort to stop and talk to them and let them know that there are people out there that care. I have a grandson who is homeless because his real parents do not care to show him they care. I offer him my home but he chooses to live under the bridges and do drugs because he does not have to bond with anyone because it causes too much pain. I cry for him because I know why he declines my help, he wants his mom and dad to care and rescue him. I stop each day and show him I care and maybe some day he will reach out and accept my help. I only pray each day that the good Lord will watch over him.

No it would be better to go out and storm the gates of your government and tell them to stop allowing good well paying American jobs to go overseas to be performed by those willing top work for less money under labor conditions that would be illegal in America.

What a great idea! Jesus fed the multitudes and then gave them spiritual food! He said, "Man does not live by bread alone". We are to do what Jesus did, even if we have to do it one person at a time, it is a wonderful idea! God bless you!

Stop moralising and sphincter twanging at them - and give them as much money as you can.
Not everything on this crappy rock has to be infected with a "morality" you know..
