if he does all of those things he most likely likes you. yes, that might be the problem. maybe its his family, because thats how my family is but idk. i dont really have any advice but if he likes you that much, you two will find a way to be together. you have to talk to him though. tell him how you feel and maybe he will come clean as well. try to make him feel comfortable in telling you things, especially those kind of things. good luck...

I suppose that race could be a factor....it's hard to say in the world we live in today. But I'm going to guess that if this guy is flirting with you...race is not the issue. I think the best way to start dating this guy is to forget about the old fasioned rules...and ask him out yourself. Start out with something casual, so you can get to know each other better....not a movie or anything that prevents you from talking. Go bowling, or something like that so you can have a good time, but still have a chance to talk. If race ever becomes an issue keep the lines of communication open, and try to let him share his point of view...in may be possible that it's not him that has a problem with race...but his family. If you really like this guy...give it a shot and see what happens.
Good luck!

Well I had a guy of a different race ask me out like a month ago so I don't think it's unusual. Maybe the guy is just uncertain if you like him or not. I would just go for it and ask him. Or just wait and see if he will do it.

It's a good possibility that he's anxious about that, because people can be cruel and mean ... personally, I think race doesn't matter as long as you're both happy. Why don't you take the first step and invite him somewhere, see what he says?

He might like you an awful lot, but depending on his race, maybe it is some sort of taboo ! If you like him, why don't you just ask him straight out ? Maybe he thinks that you may have a problem with his race.
Be honest.
Good Luck.

I don't think it is harder on a guy to ask out a girl of a different race. Why don't you test the waters and ask him to lunch.......not necessarily a "date".

I dated a black guy for a while and he had no problem asking me out. In fact, he followed me around until I said yes. =)
It just depends on how accepted interracial relationships are in your area. Do his friends like you? That makes a big difference.
You also have to be careful. Unfortunately, I had to hide my relationship from my parents because they were less than open-minded about it. (His mom, however, loved the stuffing out of me. She thought I was good for her baby. =)) Once, I went to my best friend's house and her dad told me point blank that as long as I was dating that "n-i-g-g-e-r" I wasn't welcome there. The stress was so much on us that I couldn't deal with it and we broke up.
You have to find out if its worth fighting for. His hesitancy might be just that. He could be weighing the pros and cons of pursuing a relationship with you.
