Some people think that feeding your dog twice a day at different times is a good idea. I don't believe in that. I filled my German shepherds bowl top with food and let him eat when ever he got ready just like us we eat when ever we get ready and he never got over weight like some people say when you feed you dog that way and also it saved me from buying dog food so often. because his bowl would be completely empty within 4 days after that i just filled it back up.

feed yourself at 3pm and then at 7pm and see if you don't get hungry in between 7pm and 3pm the next day. 20 hours without food is too much for any animal.
Be reasonable. They need food several times a day.

If you feed your pups at 7 pm, they are then waiting 20 hours for their next meal. Far too long for a young puppy. You don't say how old or what breed, which makes a difference. If you are feeding twice a day, it doesn't really matter when they are fed, as long as there is approx. 10 - 12 hours only between feeds.

I guess not.
I had same problems like you.. adjusting.
Anyways lemme tell you what I think should work!
I guess you want to feed her at 3pm because that's when you come from work. So the best thing to do, feed her at 3PM ... then again at 12AM or 1AM .. in this case your are feeding her on a more nocturnal wise where your puppies will sleep in the morning.

From 7 in the evening to 3 in the afternoon of the next day is an awful long time for a puppy to go without meals. And in the morning when you get up, and the evening when you get dinner, is easier to remember.

Do you wait until 3 pm to eat and then eat at 7 pm again? NO you can't feed a puppy on that weird schedule. You must feed them morning and night. they are like us they need to eat on a regular schedule. If you don't know this you should not own a pet.

Having only four hours between feedings is not enough time, and you should avoid free feeding if possible, it promotes obesity. Young dogs, especially the small breeds, need two meals a day to make sure their blood sugar remains stable through out the day.

If you are going to free peed. It needs to be 24 hours a day. You should feed your puppies in the morning like your breakfast and in the night time at dinner. This way they will not over indulge.

The puppies only weigh so much-- which means that they can only hold so much glucose. It's very bad to not feed them regularly.
If you work, they sell cat auto-feeders which you could use for one of the meals. But it's really not good for their bodies to only have 4 hours of food avail per day. You try it on your baby for a week.
