Eleanor Roosevelt - She empowered women.
Ophra - To teach the greatest blessing is to bless others. Not just helping others, but helping them to help themselves. What a gift and role model.

People are going to hate me for this: Margaret Thatcher. I would never have voted for her, but for sure she is a prime example of a female role model. She led the UK for over a decade, did it all her own way, inventing a branch of political conservatism in the process. She also stuck to her guns and never took any BS from anybody.
For a more contemporary example of a highly successful female politician, how about the chancellor of germany - Angela Merkel?

I really respect (ed) Mo Mowlam.
She saw the signing of the historic Good Friday Peace Agreement in 1998. Her personal charisma, reputation for plain speaking and successful fight against a brain tumour led her to be perceived by many as one of the most popular politicians in the UK;

I would say Anne Hathaway or Kate Winslet they are strong feminists who will not slim down or diet just for the sake of the Hollywood size 0, they have a great career and family without the need to conform to society's expectations.

I'm not catholic, I'm actually LDS and I think one of the greates role models on this earth (besides the Savior) would be Mother Teresa. She wore out her days serving, bringing aid and comfort to others. Her love for her fellow man was/is so inspiring!

This would be some woman who shaped or is shaping your life and who you strive to be like. It depends on your values who you choose. A shallow person might choose someone because of their looks and appeal. A person who values helping others may choose someone like Mother Theresa, or various other women who are/were missionaries. Someone who values success may choose a corporate executive, a woman who is very accomplished in the business world. Someone who is handicapped or facing deep difficulty may choose Helen Keller, Anne Sullivan, or various other women who have had to face their share of challenges.
So ask yourself what you value in life and what you want to cultivate. Then look for someone who is where you want to be.
