Legally, when you turn 18 or emancipate yourself.
But I would suggest hanging around through college and waiting until you're emotionally and financially able to care for yourself.
Living on your own (or even living with roommates) is expensive! And, I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to move out until I was sure I could support myself COMPLETELY. That means pay your own car note, cell phone bill, insurance, health insurance, rent, power, water, cable, & internet. Unless you're from Laguna Beach and have super-rich 'rents, most parents aren't going to let you move out AND pay your bills unless you're living in a dorm going to college.

Well first off, how old are you? If you're below 16 you cannot legally move out without her permission. Otherwise, you're fine. You can also get yourself amancipated if you're over 16, which pretty much means you aren't under custody of anyone..although if you have no where to really go that would be under adult supervision (like a friends house who lives with parents), you could have more issues happen than you would have with you staying with your mom, because of all the legal things you'll have to independently deal with. Being on your own is much more responsibility than you think, if you just want to move out because you don't like her, or because you just want to be on your own that isn't really a good reason. But if she is abusing you or something of that sort..you can take her to court and such. So really think why you want to move, then go from there. Good luck :]

17+, but actually that is no magic number niether is 18, 19, 20 etc. it depends on your financial situation. I work with people in their 20's and even a couple in their 30's who never left home or had to move back for various reasons.

when you are 18 and mature enough to support yourself. 18 may be the magic age, but most 18 year olds are not capable of supporting themselves. It is a big decision and should really be thought thru.

How old are you??? what is the background here??? Do you just want to spread your wings??? If you do just want to enter the big wide world on your own I would probably say 18!!! Talk to your mum if you can and see what she thinks, she maybe sad to hear that you are thinking about this but she'll also be very pround that her baby is ready to leave the nest.
