Honestly it is usually a combination of things that hurt any one organ. The sugars in our diets increase the growth of the bad yeasts which put toxins back in our bodies. Sugars turn to carbs and vice versa, adding to weight and poorer health.
Soda does not flush out our systems, does not hydrate us properly. In short it unnecessarly taxes the kidneys.
other - Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas (natural muscle relaxers) daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.
Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.
The cure - start with a professional massage, (if this does not do it you probably need a chiropractor as well) you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).
For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

"They won't be happy until they squeeze every bit of sweetness and joy out of life it seems," said Gene Grabowski of the Grocery Manufacturers of America.
During recent years, the CPSI has also warned the public about the dangers of Chinese food, movie popcorn, fast food, and most recently, the fast substitute, Olestra.
The National Soft Drink Association commented, "Yet again the Center for Science in the Public Interest is promoting unfounded consumer alarm by attacking a perfectly safe and enjoyable food or beverage product, in this case soft drinks."
Some doctors and consumer groups warn too many soft drinks can increase the risk for heart and kidney trouble, obesity and tooth decay.
The CSPI concedes that sodas, as an occasional addition to a healthy diet, are not harmful.

Scientists have recently linked a chemical essential to the carbonation of soda with kidney cancer. My dad drank tons of Pepsi. He had kidney cancer. He had one removed. What is it you like about soda? The sugar? Or the fizz? If it is the fizz you should probably try quitting cold turkey. If it is the sugar, you should switch to fruit juice.

I have heard that you can get kidney stones from too much soda, and then you will have to try to pass them, owww. Also caffeine limits calcium absorption in your bones, females be aware because of the risk for osteoporosis.

I don't know what it does to your kidneys, but there are plenty of reasons why not to drink pop. For instance, drinking pop will tear down your bones, irritate your stomach and high caffeine drinks will raise your blood pressure.
