I don't think any of are subs attacked any Japanese subs, but they did do a great job at sinking a lot of cargo and tanker ships. Hell the Japanese were making a oil cargo plane because of the Gatos in the water! If your looking for sub vs sub warfare look at the Atlantic the British T-class fought against the U-boats the Japanese used theirs for scouts not anti-sub warfare


If a US sub sank a Japanese sub it would be the Bolo or Gato Class subs they were the most numerous of any of the United States subs in the Pacific

USS Tang sank the most tonnage. There are no sub specific numbers out there, but the USS Tang sank the most tonnage.
