Darker colors are what most people choose to wear, out of respect. Nothing revealing or too short. Color is ok, I would think, because a memorial is more a Celebration of Life. But not too much color. I would take into consideration who will be there, after all, besides showing your respect and caring for your friend, you are also making a statement about who/how you are. That is what etiquette is all about, not being perceived as a clod.

yes the dress code for a memorial service is the same for a funeral so just wear what you would if you were going to a funeral.
i usually wear black slacks and a blouse if it is cold and if it is warm a black skirt and nice shirt
