He broke up with me among other reasons because of the distance; I'm in New York; he's in Tokyo. We started dating in Tokyo, then I had to move to NY last Sep and we dated long dist. The break up was not mutual, but it was open ended, in that he did not completely rule out the possibility of getting back together once I moved back to Tokyo. I'm moving back to Tokyo to start work there in May; he doesn't know that yet. He wanted to be friends and as friends, he would email me at the same rate, he said, and I can call him on the phone, we can meet in Tokyo "as friends". But since the break up a few weeks ago he is responding quicker to my emails, initiating conversations, and he writes me: "[my name], hello. [my name], fundamentally there is no problem. [my name], by the way now are you coming to Japan in April?" I am wondering why he wants to know whether I'm coming back to Japan and why is he talking to me more than when we were dating? When I asked him, he said there is no one new.

Men are weird animals deep inside..even though he has let you go deep inside he feels like you still belong to him and he wants to make sure you are not hooking up with some other guy..he's probably trying to hook up with other women while you are away and still trying to keep you as a fall back option incase he doesn't succeed while you are away..that way when you go back to Tokyo he will have you as an option..if you ask me just tell him not to expect anything to ever happen again between the two of you .from now on it will be strickly friends and nothing more..he will try to act like "sure that's all i want anyways" but in the next few days the e-mails will start to slow down because he will now know that you are no longer a fall back option..you have to make sure you really get your point across about ONLY FRIENDS..even go as far as telling him you have met someone else..

he doesnt know what he wants and cant seem to make up his mind about anything, he sounds like he is just getting lonely there and just misses having the company of someone.....

cannot make up his mind. don't bother being friends if he cant commit. you'll only hurt yourself
