He told us ahead of time that there will be difficult times for us. When the difficult times come, remember that he is aware of it, he has not forgotten us, and that he endured much more than this in order to remain faithful to us.
When he was being crucified, tortured, mocked, etc. he remained faithful to people who were not even born yet. We can look to him as an example of how to remain faithful - through prayer, and focusing on seeing how God is still in control through the bad times. It's a decision you make, and when you feel as if your faith is faltering, pray for help. He promised not to test us beyond what we can bear, but we need to remain attentive and realize when we are being tested. That way, we can rise to the occasion.
Keep praying, keep praising him, and pray that he would give you wisdom and courage to maintain and grow your faith when times are tough.

Please look at the context of this Scripture. It is foretelling the end times. This will be the time of tribulation after all the believers have been raptured from the earth and will already be with Jesus. The people spoken of here will be like the fellow that answered "its all a farce" These people will not believe until after Jesus comes back for his church. These people will then come to understand that Jesus is the Savior. However, given that they did not confess their faith before the Rapture they will left on earth to witness of their new faith. This witness will then cost them their lives as the anti-Christ attempts to destroy the church during the tribulation times. The only way to avoid it is to now get on your knees, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and ask for the forgiveness of your sins and He is just and righteous and will forgive you.

Here is the rest of what Jesus said -
10At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
If we stand firm in Christ, then our time of suffering will be for a little bit, but our eternity with Christ will nullify all of that.

You have to remember we (if you are a Christian) are different from the world our beliefs and standards are different our goals are different. The bible also states that the flesh can't comprehend the spirit. There will be trials that come our way those are to make us stronger. There will be people that hate us that will also be to draw you closer to the Lord. Be strong the Lord is able to do and take care of all things. Just stay in the WORD and call upon your Lord and savior JESUS CHRIST.

Well, what is you faith in? Is it in Jesus delivering you from living an uncomfortable life, or is it in Jesus being your salvation, no matter what your circumstance is?
Christ already said that we WILL be persecuted for His namesake, so we'd be praying outside of the will of God, if we prayed for deliverance from persecution. However, in Christ, we have victory over death itself. Yes, I may die in a horrible and painful way, but weeping endures for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Once I go through the transition of death, I will wake up to Life eternal, painless, and joyful.

Jesus is talking about the end times and told in Revelations. He is saying that those who believe and serve him during those times, will be hated, and some put to death. BTW, its happening now. As far as maintaing faith under those circumstances, if you love Christ, you would be willing to die for him and your beliefs.
continue to read that chapter ....
12Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
See you in Heaven...I hope.

This verse pertains only to a select group of people. God's elect and you also have to set the time. This is talking about the last days of this earth age, when satan appers pretending to be Jesus. Most so called christians will belive he is. Because they belive the rapture lie taught in most churches today. In this 9th verse it is talking about God's elect being delivered up before antichrist.

Friend, you are looking at prophecy that is over a duration of time, Many was killed back in Jesus time & many was killed during the dark ages & many was killed at the beginning of the reformation, but also we have to look at this verse in this light also, They shall kill you, if you are literally killed how can people then begin to betray each other in verse 10.

Jesus also said the world would hate us but it hated Him first. He told us so we would know it wouldn't be an easy road, but He promised that He'd never leave or forsake us. We keep the faith by knowing that He is with us through everything that happens.

The best way is to get the Holy Ghost, if you haven't yet. In the Bible, if you read Acts, you will see a lot of people have died for the name of Jesus Christ. Like the 12 Apostles: when Jesus died, they all ran, fearing that they would have to die. But when they all had got the Holy Ghost, they was readying to die for Jesus Christ.
