Imagine spending 20 years with this dude. If this is a lifeway he won't change now, he won't permanently change it because someone tells him to. If one day he up and gets a job and keeps a job despite life's hardships that include loosing work due to layoffs, firings, not liking the job site AND keeps you happy then you can say keep the dude. If you were to begin dating a guy and immediately realized he would be asking for your savings in 3-6 months what would you do?

Also, don't make him earn your savings. That's savings for a reason: rainy day, moving away from said boyfriend...it's savings not his paycheck.

If it is both your savings, then he has no right to spend it, if you are saving towards something, then no he shouldnt spend it.

What I would do is invest it in an ISA or something if you have enough so he can not touch it. Do not give him money, as he will never get off his bum. When he wants money to go out, he wont have any and his friends will get fed up with him sponging. You will see how fast he gets a job!

Why did you start saving in the first place? If your savings are intended for a specific purpose like a down payment on a house or a new car then remind him of that. Tell him that if he wants spending money to get a job.

Why do you have a joint savings account if you two aren't married? If he doesn't get out and make money tell him he won't get anything. Don't reward his laziness with cash. I suggest you don't go into your savings because since he isn't earning anything then you will probably need that savings sooner than you think.

What the hell are you talking about?
Your "boyfriend" wants to "spend your savings?"

Are you insane?

And he doesn't "get the money" if he "does some chores" either. Tell him to get a job.

AND KEEP YOUR SAVINGS IN THE BANK. That's why they're called "savings" dear.

why r u with him. Love is blind and i have had the piss taken out of me with money before and learnt the hard way. PLEASE.......keep your decision. For him to not make the effort to earn money himself how is he going to pay you back.
There is plenty of men out there who are decent/work hard/ambitious/and know how to treat a women. Your partner from the sounds of it doesn't. Sorry but you can do better love.
