Rocco Jones ~
That depends on the fighter but usually no more than two. Roberto Duran was famous for working out up to four days before a fight and still run six miles the day before the fight. A fighter wants to rest his/her body of any fatigue it might be experiencing.

If one is a amateur fighter their bouts are 3 three minute rounds and you really don't need any significant rest. Just go about business as usual. I use to train the day before a fight, I just cut everything in half.

Thank you for the question Roco Jones.

It varies between trainer and fighters. In the amateurs I don't let guys have any days "off", just very lightly work the day before. A fighter has conditioned his body to be ready every day in the gym, a break from that is a break from the normal routine your putting your body through. In the pros where the rounds are longer and physical demand greater I've heard of some guys taking as much as a week off. I think that's extreme. The idea is to let the body fully recuperate from intense training. Three days is plenty. I think more than that creates lethargy and makes it harder to get "up" for combat.

It depends on the fighter and every ones body is different I would take one day off but the funny thing is I know that if I took three days off I would feel great but I had this feeling that if I did not work out I would get beat
