Look at Christians in America, they go to extreme measures trying to get people to go to church, they tell them sex before marriage is bad, they hate homosexuals, they advocate against cloning.
Look at Muslims in the Middle East, starting a Holy War, killing in the name of their God.
Why dont people think for themselves and realize that a religion is only a set of beliefs aimed to control human beings, limiting their potential by giving them false ideas.

What most people don't grasp is that religion doesn't have anything to do with god. Religion is merely a contrivance that fulfills a social need in human beings. Individuals have a need to feel part of a group. In prehistoric times, that group was your hunting party. As societies grew, religion began to fulfill that need. As science and innovation came along, social clubs and institutions began to fulfill that need. People "let" religion control their lives because they feel a need to belong -- regardless of how ridiculous those religious ideas may seem to outsiders (1,700 religions on the earth each claiming to be the "one true way" to salvation -- don't think god intended it that way!) It is easier to do "wrong" and hide behind a religious (or other groups) banner, than to stand up and do "right" and be completely accountable for your own actions. Evidence of that is shown by the Milgram Experiments.

It's all in the name of fear. Religion is supposed to bring family and friends together to be peaceful and happy, but instead it becomes a holy war. Right wing-Christians are simply power-seekers looking to control the masses with religion, believing their way is the only way there is out there, and true Muslims would never do such atrocities that the terrorists do. I am Catholic, but I believe that everyone is loved under God regardless of what religion or belief they practice, sexual preference, race/color, anything. Its so sad to see that right-wing America just wants to control everyone else and not live and let live. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, though, but it shouldnt be shoved in other peoples faces either. Remember, God loves, so I don't think He'd advocate any terrorist attacks nor would he like anybody to judge their neighbor, he just wants everyone to love, live, and get along.

That is your interpretation and you are free to hold it. However, you cannot simply say that Christians have no self will. It is a choice to follow Gods law and what (we) believe he wants of us.
The reason for no sex after marriage? Check the Bible.
We do not 'hate' homosexuals as much as detest the manner in which they live. Hate the sin not the person.
As to the Muslims? They actually believe that it is greater to study the Koran and serve the community rather than go to war.
(Extremists ruin everything don't they?)

I found your question brilliant.
I am extremely religious and I do my best to get to my deepest level of spirituality. Also, I see Theology as History with a "H", as Anthropology and Sociology.
Religion IS a set of beliefs, no doubt... and also, all religions are preached, written, translated, advertised.... all the verbs you want.... by THE MEN!
Men made religion or religions if you will.
As Nieshtch would say... Is Man the greatest creation of God, or God the greatest creation of Men....
All I can say... with all my humbleness... is that we all need a projection of ourselves. Even if it has to be someone to be feared... or to justify all our limits.
We have limits because we think! Since we ourselves created the limits, we also need to creat the limit for this all righteous limit.
Some call it mankind...

God Almighty is The Creator of universes, every living / nonliving things including Humans.
God Almighty is the sole master of Universes.
God Almighty sent us to this earth.
God Almighty knows best how to live and spent best time on His Creation.
God Almighty made an Operating Manual called Holy Book to learn how to spent Life He gave to us.
Religion which gives us Holy books are the best source to be consulted for God's Kingdom.
When you make some thing you make an operating manual for user convenience, if user follow and operates according to your instruction user will get best out of that product, other wise may get in trouble.
Now you understand why we need to follow religion, Only religion which is from God Almighty, not made by Humans by them self.

Don't hate homosexual's, hate what they do, only.
Cloning is a no-no though, one of you is enough.
99.9% of all Muslims are peaceful and not at war with anyone.
Christianity is a guide for living not a controlling factor but still just how would your world operate? With no rules, whatsoever?

Everyone needs spiritual healing. People that don't have a religion may sometime in their life feel like they are going crazy because they cannot handle their life situation. God will give you strength through tough times. We don't hate homosexuals, I had sex before marriage at that time, I was a skeptic! I wish I had waited. I repented of my sins God has bless me. About cloning something negative is going to come up, just wait and see.

Everyone has a religion. A religion is how one views the world. God gave everyone free will, becuase without free will, there would be no love whatsoever. As a Christian, I make my own choices and I try my best to the the Holy Spirit guide me on this path called life.

These so called religions are our only enemy. By the way what is religion? I
Is it going to the church and having a bible everyday?
Is it going to the mosque and praying 5 times a day and following all that is in the rule book?
Is it begging from different statues like in hinduism?
The answer is NO.
Religion defines, "Do your work and do not harm/disturb others".
