This happens all the time.
Not a problem. Your passport is your ID and if you paid by credit card they could cross check with that.

Unless your friend has a name that with the letter changed creates another vierifiable surname, then she shouldnt have a problem. You've rang them and they've made a note so it should be ok.
Just to put your mind at rest, give them a ring back in a few days just to check that the change has been done, remembering to get the location, name and number of the person you speak to for confirmation, and check on it.
P.s if it was their mistake they dont usually really argue, it's an honest mistake that does happen a lot.

You're probably ok, but if you have other documentation that shows the correct spelling of their name it will help.
If you booked on-line you should have copies of the order form and possibly the receipt with the correct spelling.
Re-check with BMI if you like and get the name of the person who you speak to. Make a note of this and the exact time and date of your call.

Your friend should be fine- as long as the airline documented it -
It happens all the time - its only a problem if the spelling is completely off and the ticket does not come close to the ID

I had this - there was an extra letter on my name on a BMI flight - called and they made a note and i had no problems at all but i would ask them to perhaps send a note or letter of amendment if you are still concerned.

It's not a real problem--happens frequently. You might want to make sure they get the correction in the internal records (especially if it is an international flight) because those internal records will be handed over to the US customs/immigration people who will double check against terrorist watch lists.
Only a real problem if your name is J. Osama Bin Laden and they left out the J. :-)

I would check back w/the airline just to make sure it really was noted on the record. You may even ask them to email or fax you a copy of the note for your records in case baggage handlers want to see it.

Yes it will cause big problems for her, because her name has to exactly the same as her passport.
I don't you should put your faith on the person on the phone, because if she hasn't made a note or it gets lost then your in trouble
I think it only costs about £10.00 to change, and its worth doing it.
Hope this helps.x
