My husband is currenlty deployed, and I wasn't sure whether the seperation pay comes in every month while he is gone, or in a lump at the end. Before you make any assumptions about why I am asking this question, we have already decided we are going to use it to by things for our baby due in September. If it comes in every month, I can just use it as it comes. If I have to wait till they end, that my be cutting it a little close and I will need to go ahead and spend money without waiting for it. Anyway, does anyone know if it comes once a month or at the end.

It comes in every pay check on the 1st and 15th, however it does take 30 days before he is even eligible to receive it.

It comes once a month, but it won't start until he has been gone for 31 days. The second full month he is gone, he should get 2 months' worth of seperation pay.

The Army also pays per diem - I'm not sure if the other services do or not. That is a certain amount per day that he is deployed, and it will come in a lump sum a few weeks after he gets home.

Congratulations on your little one!

It really depends. I know our command tries to get it paid monthly but sometimes there is a problem with the paperwork so it comes at the end. Or if it's planned to be a short underway and they're not sure we'll make the whole time to qualify, then it comes at the end, too.

The best bet is to have DH keep an eye on his MyPay site so he'll know when it starts. If he's not somewhere with Internet access I think he can set you up with an account that lets you check the pay slips but not change anything. In reality most wives I know who keep track just have DH's password.

My husband is Active Duty Air Force and he's only ever gotten his family separation paid when he cmes back and files his travel vouchers at the end of his sdeployment. He's been to Iraq three times now and he's always gotten it at the end. It has never been an option to get the family separation in his pay while he's gne. Your husband's hazard pay will however be in his monthly pay. His hazard is $225 a month and he'll get it after he's there for a month.

Hang in there! I know these deployments can be hard! I've not had to go through a deployment while I was pregnant so kudos to you!

honestly, It depends. many Guard and Reserve Units are paying it out at the end in one lump sum. But Most AD units are paying throughout.

It goes in to effect on Day 31 (continuous) of him being away from home station. But soemtiems it can take a few pay periods before it appears.

ALSO.. again, with Guard and Reserves.. taxes will come out, but then are refunded a couple of pay periods later, in a seperate deposit.

Its direct deposit on the 1st and 15th of each month. But if your using his account - then just remember to save him a little because spending is expensive overseas...

It comes every month on his LES. So if you have separate bank accounts he legally has to allot you the $250. Are whatever it is now.
