this god character sounds like a petulant, murderous little boy, doesn't he?

Wouldn't it be "nice" if someone would pay off your mortgage, your car loan, all your credit card debts, etc, etc, ad nauseaum?
Sure, it would, if you could get someone to do it for you! And wouldh't you be a fool to turn such a marvelous gift down!
God did ever so much more than that! Nice? Hun, this is the greatest love the world has ever known!!

God loved the world so much that he gave His only Son to die to pardon our sins that we might be saved. What we do with that sacrifice is up to each person.

God is perfect in all things. His justice and His mercy. The sacrifice of Jesus was am amazing example of His perfect wisdom. How can He allow perfect mercy without violating His perfect justice ? An eternal sacrifice of His Son was the only way.. It show immense love to mankind and preserves His justice and His mercy.. It was brilliant... Jim

Nice had nothing to do with it. God's covenant with man was broken by Adam and Eve. In God's infinite love for all of us a mediator was necessary to represent all mankind in re-establishing the covenant between God and man. Jesus was this mediator and representative of the whole human race. God, through his love, gave us his Son as the only one who would allow for the re-establishement of the covenant. Jesus was without sin and could stand in place of all mankind as our representative so that we, if we choose to, can have eternal life. All we have to do is to choose to accept the gift that God gave us. I am ready, how about you?

It was the most amazing love that the world has ever known. God's ways aren't our ways, and we'll never completely understand why it was necessary. But I am thankful beyond words that Jesus loved me and died for me.

No, I think it's weird. God makes the rules, right? Why couldn't God have required that a daisy be plucked at noon instead of requiring a blood sacrifice involving his son??

Yes, it was. Since it has ALWAYS required bloodshed for the remission of sins, it was so much more than "nice" of Him to do what He did.
