I agree with the first suggestion. Call churches in your area and set up appointments to talk to a pastor. Explain the situation, and ask if they can give any kind of assistance. You are not obligated in any way to "convert", or even attend the church. You aren't paying for a service. It is the mission of the local church to take care of those in their community as they are able. Jesus says that when we give someone who is thirsty a cup of water, it is like we are doing it to Him. It blesses God, and people get to see what TRUE Christianity means. :) God Bless! I'll say a prayer for your family right now.

I do not know where you live, but you can contact the local media, newspapers, radio, etc. Also there are agencies such as St. Vincent Depaul, Salvation Army, Social Services, Purple Heart, March of Dimes and Easter Seal, hopefully one of these organizations can be of some assistance to you. God bless you, I know that these are difficult times, but you will get through this.

Go to the school district, too. This has happened a few times in the area I live in and each time the schools stepped in to help. Even if your children are not yet ion school, most districts will help with drives, etc.

the only thing I can think of is call the local news station, sometimes they have the "special stories" where they make the public aware of people who need help.
