I know what you're going through! But don't beat yourself up. It's normal to get shy around a guy you like, especially when he surprises you. Next time, MAKE A RESOLUTION to be bold and look into his eyes when he approaches. You don't have to flirt with words yet, just focus on looking at him. You will feel more confident and move on to the next stages.

This is important to do, or you'll end up like me: I just recently lost a guy I had a HUGE crush on because I got too nervous when we ran into each other unexpectedly. He actually asked me where I was headed, if I was going home, and I said "Yes, I have to go home and study" !! He thought I was turning him down and WE RAN OUT OF TIME!

Please don't let the same thing happen to you. I still think about him but now I'll never see him again. Don't let someone you like pass you by because of shyness.

He probably felt really awkward talking to just your friend and not you when (it sounds like) he actually wanted to talk to you, and because you were texting on your mobile he's probably got the impression you aren't interested.
If you are interested in him, I'd ask for his number somewhere and say something like I'm sorry for being a bit rude the other night we should talk some other time. Make it casual so he feels better about the situation but not too sure he will definitely get in there with you.
If you aren't interested, then just make small talk with him next time you see him but don't shy away from him again!
Hope all goes well!

Yes, I think so. If that was me, I'd have totally mis-read the signals and thought you weren't interested, so may not try again. Ask him out, or at least start a conversation, then he'll realise he mis-reda the signs and might ask you out. Good luck ;-)

Likley yes, it will be easier for him to ask the more intrest you show. The fear of rejection weighs heavy on alot of guys minds. To ask and be turned down can be a real blow to a guys confidence/ego.

Make sure you show intrest in him.

It might be possible but you don't get a second chance to make a first good Impression. But there is always hope. If he really likes you I think he will.

he probably would have asked if you had given him the time of day, he may ask again but it depends on how sturdy his ego is. You may have to give him a few 'come on' signals to get him fired up for you again.
