I can't believe the amount of hate people have for God & Christians ... it really makes me feel sad! :(

I know that's what will happen because it says that in the Bible...but can't you all try to understand why we're so happy!? Ignoring all the religious ignoramuses (!) - a true Christian should emulate what God is like. Not push Christian faith onto other people...I agree with people when they get upset about religious people...but please understand not all Christians are like that!

Amen, sweetheart! Religious people give us with a Relationship with God and Jesus Christ a really bad image. We aren't called to shove the Good News down someones throat... we are called to be lights in the darkness, for those who are lost. God bless you hon!

Is a negative emotion to hate. If you feel people are being nasty about religion they may not perceive it as such simply statingtheir opinion. Like most things people usually reach an opinion through personal experience of somekind. So negative thoughts probably equal a negative experience of some kind at the hands of someone they believed was religious. I can identify with this but that said know the folly of tarring all involved in religion with the same brush. My own experience was repeated and thus reinforced so I do not hate but am afraid can only be cynical. This of course is not directed at you personally......but surely you can understand that there are those who use their religion as a smokescreen to behave as they wish and somehow use God asthe meaning or the reason or excuse.......this is wrong. So naturally it causes others to doubt or be cynical as to the sincerity of religion at all.

I think it is sad when people try to change the beliefs of others and insult them. I have a lot of friends of different faiths, including more than one person who preaches in places of worship. The only friends I have that insult the beliefs of others are atheists, not that all my atheist friends do this - most just accept what others believe in.
I guess some people are just bullies at heart and like to put others down for any reason they can. It's not big or clever. Still it's best just to forgive and forget.

I don't think that people hate God or Christians. I just think that it gets irritating when you ask a serious question such as 'I suffer from voices in my head and don't know what to do?' and you get the Christians saying 'pray to God and he will help you.' I have actually seen this exact question and answer on here and it's irritating when you are trying to help people by telling them to go to a doctor or mental health professional. Maybe you think God will help people but I know that medication will help more.

I think that everybody knows at some level that God exists and that they are not worthy of Him. The more you deny that truth, the nastier you will be towards believers, the angrier you will be in general.

You're right that there is a segment of Christians (like all groups) that tarnishes the name, tries to press their beliefs too hard. But that is a very small minority. To read the posts here you would have to believe that Chrisitans are ringing their doorbells every five minutes.

God Bless.

...As Christians, we are all to be witnesses, though not all have the gift of evangelism.
...If we don't tell the lost, who will? How will they hear? Why do you think He left us here?
...How would you explain to God how you didn't want to "push" the word of His saving grace on someone, for fear they might be offended?
...If I were you, I would get more concerned about reaching the lost (in a winsome, gentle way), and don't worry so much about their reaction.
...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and be saved.
...Whosoever will, may come.

in an ideal world everybody would be nice. the way i look at it is that people are scared of what they don't know. i am not religious but i don't slate anyone because they are. if you are happy with your way of life then i say fair shout. just ignor the ignorant people who have nothing better to do than insult you for your beliefs.

people being nasty to use your words has nothing to do with religion!! People who are nasty are first of all without manners and secondly you will find most have limited knowledge so to hide the fact they tend to be intimidating which gives them a mild satisfaction and of course you always give those people a very wide berth

Unfortunately some Christians (only some) judge and hate and condescend thinking that, that will attract people to their beliefs and to God. That usually backfires and makes the others take the extreme opposite and dish it back. It's a sad cycle and thank God, most people aren't either extreme and can deal with one another in a civil way.

I've often wondered that, myself. I know the peace and joy that serving the Lord has given me, and I also feel sad to think that other people are missing out on His love.

And you're right -- our lives should be our primary witness for Christ. People don't necessarily believe what we say, but they certainly watch what we do. My favorite quote is attributed to St. Francis of Assisi:

"Preach the gospel at all times. Use words if necessary."
