You are referring to SSS Original Bath Oil, which now also comes in a convenient pump formula. While this product has never been advertised by AVON as a insect repellent, many people have been using it for decades & most people down south swear by it; even though now we have a seperate insect repellent line called Bug Guard. Virtually no smell. SSS has 101 unauthorized uses. It is very popular with horse handlers to keep the mosquitos away & the manes smooth & conditioned. It takes gum out of carpets, oh & I could go on & on. SSS is the #1 sold Bath Oil around the globe.

I have used Skin So Soft as a repellent - but I didn't find it was very effective. It did work a little bit but I wouldn't recommend it for the swarming days of summer. I used the original bath oil that came in a spray bottle. It smelled nice (better than normal bug sprays)

Any repellent with "Deet" as an active ingredient is best. The more deet, the more effective. Unfortunately they all have about the same odor. The moisture lotion is the one that so many people bragged about. Avon capatalized on it by making a bug repellent but I understand that it's not as effective as the lotion. And you still have somewhat of an odor to contend with. I'll stick with the deet products. I may have to deal with the odor, but I don't have to deal with the bugs.

I just used Skin So Soft at my office after getting 4 mosquito bites in less than 10 minutes. My co-worker suggested I try it and it worked! Mosquitoes love me and they have stayed away all day. Another good suggestion is to put hand sanitizer on your mosquito bites as soon as you get them and w/in 30 minutes they stop itching and even disappear for a day or two. It s miraculous!

I have used the skin-so-soft spray before as a repellent, however it seemed to clog my pores. I've used the skin-so-soft bug repellent and not only does it not repell bugs, I think it draws them in!! The spray also burnt my skin.

While visiting Panama, our host said that only Deet products worked against their billions of mosquitos, not to even try SSS. I applied his Deet based product and was swarmed by mosquitos. I ran to the shower, too, because it opened up my pores so much it attracted more mosquitos. I quickly applied SSS and, out of around 50 people at the function that night, was the ONLY one not being eaten. Anybody who says SSS doesn t work as a repellant has never tried it or is lying.

Don't know about the Avon products. Save your money and just buy a big bottle of lemon cologne, dirt cheap from any European supermarket. Rub it in your skin, lasts for 4 hours at a time, and the mozzies won't go near you. The lemon smell won't linger, if you're worried about going out smelling of a lemon tree on legs. My sis lives in Spain, and I always use the cologne on visits

I have been using SSS body oil for over 30 years. It works. I garden at sun-up and sun-down - the worst mosquito times. Never get bit. Never.
