.... 'gift-giving' By God to OTHER of His people? Is it because we are constantly bombarded with the bible's reference to Jewish people as the "Chosen," or is it because Christianity is really the weaker of both?
And is there a possibility that we were ALL Jewish people in the beginning of time? It is rather difficult to believe that a truly loving God would bestow a select religious group as his favorite, forsaking all others. I mean HE IS GOD. We were all created in HIS image, were we not? Are there perhaps unknown or hidden books of the Bible that cast an equally bright and further revealng light on other people besides Jewish people.

(btw, I spent days reading the book of Ezekiel. It was quite an eye-opener. Strange. In many of my conversations with Jewish people I have yet to hear them speak of this book.)

The Judaeo-Christian God focuses on the Jewish people because he was their god. Had it been a Phonecian god which gained global dominance, the Phonecian-descendents would now be the 'chosen people'. It's a matter of history.

No, we were not all Jewish at the beginning of time, we were black, and probably followed either animistic paganism or sun-worship.

You really come across the "chosen people" thing in the bible so much?

As soon as people start talking about how the Bible is all about Jews being the chosen people, I know they have not read the Bible. Try Reading Jeremiah, Isaiah, 1st and 2nd Kings, and 1st and 2nd Chronicles. The whole "chosen people" thing never comes up. It always talking about how they are evil sinners and are going to get messed up for it if they don't stop sacrificing their children, and how they are not even as good as the Canaanite nations that lived there before, and all kinds of threats to get them to behave.

Then you have the prophets openly taliking about "gift giving" to other nations., and the Jewish lack of speciallness. Amos 9:7 "'Are not you Israelites the same to me as the Cushites?' declares the LORD . 'Did I not bring Israel up from Egypt, the Philistines from Caphtor and the Arameans from Kir?'"

and then the prophetic image of the Middle East at the end of time, (Isaiah 19:23-25 ):

" In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Syria. The Syrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Syria. The Egyptians and Syrians will worship together. In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Syria, as a blessing on the earth. The LORD Almighty will bless them, saying, 'Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance.'"

Oh my gosh!!!! Somebody stop the jingoist etno-centricism!!!

What I think-
Way back in the beginning, everyone knew God. Over the expanse of time, as people drifted apart, the original truth degenerated into legends and legends eventually became myths...this is why there is so much similarity in so many ancient religions. The Jews are a great picture of humanity...how quickly they turned from God, time and time again! The fact is, back in Samuel's time, they actually rejected God from being their King...which may be why they didn't recognize their King when He came to them. We have much to learn from their mistakes.
The main reason God chose a group to represent Him was to bring Jesus to the world...He is the Light of the World.

The Old Testament of the Bible is a history of the Jewish people. Of course, they would consider themselves the chosen people. It is the problem that is endemic in the Bible as a whole.

God DID have another GREAT gift for all, Jesus.
This way he can save anyone regardless of race.
Here's a question that will boggle your brain. Did God allow the jews to reject Jesus so the gentiles could be saved? The bible says if they had not rejected him the gospel would not have been brought to the rest of the world.

It is very possible that there is a plan unfolding, a purpose that neither you nor I nor anybody can thwart or even try to understand. Is it our right to usurp an infinite authority that was here before us?

The message that God gave to Job was "who are you to tell me my purpose? Where were you when I laid the foundations of the universe?"

The message of Christ is that through faith and only faith (since our puny finite minds cannot know) we come to the one true source of our life and being.

The problem of man is that he wanted to know it all, become a god. And the only way he could try was to separate from God. Then he lost life. Man is a creature of faith, not knowledge.

That is why he Sent Jesus to correct that. Jesus says that GOD loves all his children equally. That is also why most Jews do not like Jesus.
