I believe God is in everybody. So, when the Bible says to love God more than your spouse and children, it all translates back to loving them more than ever anyway.

What are you asking? That God wants you to love him more then anything on this earth is wrong? Well I'll tell you one thing...Your spouse can leave you at a heart beat for another person. Your kids can tell you to screw off and not be part of there life no more. These things happen...but God says he will never leave you or forsake you. Why would you not love God more then anything on this earth? He is the only one that would not leave, but everyone else will. He will be there when no one else is...

No. We were created to love God, to fellowship and worship Him. God gives us spouses and children. We can love the all we want but we must not put them above God. We all belong to God, he created each and every one of us. We are charged with loving our spouses and children as a sign of our love for God. I do not feel misled only blessed.

I don't' really think so. In my experience, when my husband is putting more effort into showing his love for God (reading his scriptures more, praying a little more honestly, serving others) I end up feeling so much more love from my husband.
When you develop a personal relationship with God, you get better at seeing things with an eternal perspective, and the better you get at seeing things with an eternal perspective, the more important and lovable your family becomes.

nooooo i mean not that i'm married or have children, but i have family and a lot of friends and it's the same situation. i mean, he didn't say that you can't love them, and you can even love them a lot. but you cannot make them an idol in your life. that doesnt even mean that you can't take care of them, it just means that your whole life can't be about them. you've gotta live for him. if you love God, then you'll love others, which includes your spouse and children. you're supposed to give him your WHOLE heart, not just half and save the rest for your peeps
plus think about this: did your spouse and children die to save you?

There is no loving more or less...the two great commandments is love God and love thy neibhor as thyself.
The highest duty is to God and family is a lower duty.
You love them all, but the duties and responsibilities are different.

Hear the Bible:
Lu 14:26 If any man come to me, and not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
Every good man loves his relations; and yet, if he be a disciple of Christ, he must comparatively them, must love them less than Christ, as Leah is said to be d when Rachel was better loved. Not that their persons must be in any degree d, but our comfort and satisfaction in them must be lost and swallowed up in our love to Christ. When our duty to our parents comes in competition with our evident duty to Christ, we must give Christ the preference. If we must either deny Christ or be banished from our families and relations (as many of the primitive Christians were), we must rather lose their society than his favor.

No, because God is love, and itis only thu him we can learn love, and learn to love our spouse and children like he loves us thu Jesus we become children of God, and we learn thu our Father God, just like here on earth, we learn our behaviers thu our parents. 1 John 3:1 Tells us we are his children.

no i do not - but it is a real tricky situation, huh? the concept i have is:
if i love God with all my heart, my soul, and my mind, then what can keep me from being able to love my loved ones in the most
greatest way? so fron God and my relationhip with him i learn to love from the best lover ever.

I don't think God wants us to love them less. He wants us to love Him first. The idea is that nothing can come between me and God. Believe me . .I love my wife, but she will never come between me and God.
