'World' actually means 'system'. Just like Mario World isn't a planet, but a game system. The world system was destroyed by water in the day of Noah. Today it is about to be destroyed by:
Pollution
Global Warming
Energy Crisis
Overpopulation
etc. etc. etc...
or just possibly by bringing our political system down before all of those other methods kick in. It's really not a bad thing.

All living air breathing things were destroyed by the flood.
The world destruction will be by fire.
2 Pet 3:7 But the present heavens and earth by His word are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
and,
Isa 66:15 For behold, the LORD will come in fire And His chariots like the whirlwind, To render His anger with fury, And His rebuke with flames of fire.
Isa 66:16 For the LORD will execute judgment by fire And by His sword on all flesh, And those slain by the LORD will be many.

because if you read the bible. it says that the earth WILL be destroyed again. no matter how hard you try to stop it. and also the world was never destroyed because if it was would you be here right now. so please get your wording straight. next time the world will be destroyed and it will be done with fire. but that's you if you don't believe this so....uhmp!!!

The world was flooded but not destroyed.
It was the PEOPLE of those days that perished.
It will be the same at Armageddon.
The world itself will not be destroyed but wicked people WILL.
(Psalm 37:9) For evildoers themselves will be cut off, But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth.
(Psalm 37:11) But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.
(Psalm 37:29) The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it.
(Psalm 37:34) Hope in Jehovah and keep his way, And he will exalt you to take possession of the earth. When the wicked ones are cut off, you will see [it].

Periodically, the god of Abraham wipes out this or that part of humanity - and once he did them all in except for that ship-building family. It seems when some large part of humanity doesn't behave the way he wants them to, he simply kills them all - even the inocent ones. Aside from the epically absurd cruelty of this concept, you have to wonder why he loses his cool over something he knows is going to happen - after all, he is omniscient, right?

Yes. If you rebuild it.
I think the "it goes without saying" part there is that people rebuilt the world, so god could smite it again.
