Well, your gut is telling you something. Listen to it. He told you he wouldn't get mad at you if you cheated? Hmmm..... That seems really odd to me, and I'm a 39 year wise woman. My impression is that if he hasn't already cheated, he intends to at some point. I definitely wouldn't kiss him while he has the cold sore though. It's a form of herpes that he could have contracted recently of a long time ago.

Well, the trust factor has obviously eroded here...at this point it doesn't matter whether he's actually cheating or not, because you are experiencing the same misgivings and torment as if he were. That is just as real to you even if he hasn't been unfaithful. The lack of trust does raise a red flag here, so let's talk about that a moment.
I hate to tell you this, but if your bestfriend knows him better than you do, then maybe it's time to back up and re-evaluate your relationship with him. I am NOT accusing your best friend of being the "other woman" here...I'm simply saying that if you don't know or can't trust this guy for yourself, then maybe the relationship isn't what you thought it was.
I don't think he's guilty simply because he raised the question and was "just asking". But if you are wondering what he meant by that or if he has been unfaithful, then you need to talk to him about that openly. That's what relationships are all about.....being mutually honest with each other, treating each other with respect, and being able to TRUST each other. Without that, whaddya got except some meaningless sex and/or a whole lot of aggravation. Hardly worth it, do you think?
Wishing you all the best -

I think the cold sore is a red herring - that is, it's not related to the central problem.
If he asked you if you'd be mad if he's cheating on you, he's cheating on you. If he said he wouldn't get mad if you cheated on him, he's lying (yes, he would too get mad!) AND he's cheating.
People don't ask questions like that for no reason.

I'm a firm believer that "cold sores" break out when the person is letting something bother them. WHY? You ask? Well, I have 2 son's who this happens too. It was always something that was bothering them.
He probably did cheat, but that's not where the cold sore came from, more than likely.

if you think he is cheating then nine times out of ten he is. but if you think your friend is right go with that. if he asked you if you get mad then he is probably cheating and if you ask him is then he'll lie and say no so he more than likelly is

what i can say is just go up to him and ask him if he says no just look for the possible signs that he is cheating like not spending alot of time with you like he used to and stuff like that.

If you suspect that your man is cheating, nine times out of ten you are right. Go with your instincts.
