Here we go again with people talking trash about Atkins/low carb diets.

First off: Stop with the fat phobia, fat doesn't cause heart disease excess SUGAR & STRACHES do. Real butter is good for you. Saturated fat is also good for you. READ the link I provide. Also, I urge you throw out your seed oils, like Mazola and canola oils as well as margerine and only cook and stir fry with expeller expressed REFINED coconut oil found in most any healthfood store.

The excercise you are doing can allow you alot more carbs, (I think you might be over doing it like another poster said.) just make sure they are fresh greens and the lower carb fruits like strawberries and berries in general. 72 grams of carbs a day should be your top limit if you lay off some of that excersize.

Atkins/low carb is a LIFESTYLE, not a diet. This is the error most people make. I know I made that mistake.

Don't listen to the Atkins bashers, they are so wrong it would be a joke if it weren't so sad.

Enjoy your red meat (grass fed best) and pork again. And don't forget your nuts!

I only recommend your supplement with CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) and Omega 3 fish oils. These would be in higher amounts in our beef products if they fed them grass instead of corn!

Good luck. Atkins follower, 35 pounds lost for five years!

THANK YOU ROBERT!!!!!!!

You say you are doing the Atkins Diet. Have you read the book???

The reason you ARE hungry is because YOU ARE NOT EATING ENOUGH!!! You should be eating more than eggs and chicken. You should be getting 12-15 grams of your carbs a day from veggies! Do not be afraid of oils and fats!! They aer not the things that cause heart disease and heart attacks!!

Alisha you were NOT doing Atkins because you ARE SUPPOSED TO eat fruits and veggies.

Check out the sites below. One is a study that was just released yesterday on the Atkins WAY OF LIFE (not diet). The other is a site with tons of low carb recipes that also has a great support bulliten board.

In my opinion, diets with extreme lows do not satisfy my stomach or goals.

You should give yourself at least 1 day out of a week to do some carb loading. Living without this macro nutrient for such a long period is actually harmful to your health...that's why many people are anti-low carb diets even though you can achieve quick weight loss. The reason why you're always hungry is that your mind is so accustomed to eating carbs, so once those are taken out of your daily diet, your body knows that it's missing something.

The low carbohydrate diet is mainly for people who want to see the weight come off fast. What many people don't know is that it's usually just water weight..something you will gain back once you go back to a regular lifestyle. I suggest following a 40-40-20 diet. 40% carbs, 40% protein, 20% protein....it's pretty well balanced.

I have no idea what your bodyweight is but here's the formula for maintaining your weight and cutting:

To maintain current weight:
Bodyweight in lbs X (13, 14, or 15) = range of daily caloric intake

To lose body weight:
Bodyweight in lbs X (10, 11, or 12) = range of daily caloric intake

Here's an example with my bodyweight: 140lbs

140lbs...my range to lose body weight is 1400 to 1680...in

1680 x 40% = 672 cal from carbs / 4 = 168grams
1680 x 40% = 672 cal from protein / 4 = 168grams
1680 x 20% = 336 cal from fat / 9 = 37grams

From this diet...you will notice that you won't lose weight as quickly...it's a slower process but much more healthy. You will be losing body fat instead of just water weight.

Make sure all your fat comes from good fats (almonds, avocados)...not from poultry. I notice that the Atkin's diet has bacon and stuff like that...which is bad.

First - You shouldn't be doing that many sit ups every day. You should do your sit-up routine every other day. After an intense work out, your muscles need time to rebuild themselves. You are just continuing to tear them up without repair time - Not good.

Second - Atkin's Diet is not healthy in the long run. I suggest you try weight watchers. Lots of people have gotten great results and you get to eat whatever you want (only so many calories in a day though).

Very difficult! I was on it for a while. Women have a hard time on it. I ate caesar salad w/chicken till I thought I would turn in to one. Women need fruit and vegetables. I have lost 10lbs. I do treadmill in the morning 1-2 miles. Eat salmon. Very easy to make and very healthy!!!! You are excercising and that is huge!!!! Just eat healthy! You can do it. I hope this helped. Also, you will eventually stop losing on the atkins diet. Then to maintain what you lost you pretty much have to stay on the thing!! Good Luck!

I haven't tried this diet, but know a few people who have, and have had great success on it. I don't know about the rules, but from my understanding, you can have some carbs, as long as they are whole grain. It is impossible for your body to function without carbs, you need some, just make sure they are the right kind. Stay away from refined sugars, bleached flours, etc. The links below have low-carb recipes to help you add variety to your diet. Good luck!
