Peritonitis is a serious condition that must be treated aggressively with IV antibiotics and fluids. Peritonitis from surgery is not the same as FIP (feline infectious peritonitis), a very contagious illness they catch from other cats. Peritonitis is treatable most of the time, FIP is never curable.

Peritonitis is a very serious infection which can sometimes happen during the spay process. If caught in time, and treated with antibiotics, she will be fine. The vet will have her on probably 2 different IVs: one for the dehydration and one for the meds.

FIP (feline peretinitis) is a fatal disease. Your cat may be able to live for a while with treatment. Talk to you vet to see what they suggest and how severe your cats illness is.

Hopefully she's in good hands. I'm sure the vet will be honest with you
