why would he allow this "sinful" creation to exist at all? Why not start over with some good creations?

JC, these questions are verbalized horror at the God of Abraham. I don't believe this being to exist, but I also don't get how people can think that he is a "kind, loving God." It sounds like doublespeak.

Q&A Queen: How are we not being punished for the alleged sins of Adam and Eve, if we are all painted with the s"sin" brush? Even a newborn child is sinful. This is wrong.

Elijah, why couldn't he love us enough to just love us? Why couldn't he love us enough to accept that we are people, acting as people do? If it is inherently damning to just be a person, why could an all powerful God not just forgive without all of the drama?

It has to with God wanting us to be able to stand on our own two moral feet. For us the become the sort of people that would choose right, even when the wrong choices are staring us right in the face.

The intermediary is there, because God knew that becoming that sort of person is a process, and we were inevitably going to make some mistakes along the way.

Ah, but God does not find us unworthy to be in his presence without an intermediary. Jesus suffered to redeem us from our sins. After that, we may speak freely to God (in the form of prayer). As to why God allows us to continue to live, one could answer with any number of replies. I say that we can thank Him for His generosity in allowing us to live and have the freedom of choice. How can anyone fully comprehend the workings of God's mental processes? Surely not I. We can only theorize.

It's called love, Betty. From the very beginning ... immediately after Adam & Eve disobeyed and he handed down their punishment, he recognized that his perfect justice could not allow for Adam & Eve's future offspring to be punished for something they did. It's why the prophecy at Gen. 3:15, where he speaks of the "serpent's" seed and the "woman's" seed was actually the beginning of his repairing the damage Adam & Eve had done. That seed of the "woman" was Jesus Christ.

Cinderella is correct. She's given you good advice.

No. You need no intermediary between yourself and God. Every human being has been created equal & is capable of saving himself, if he so wishes. Every being is pure at the time of birth & there is no "carry-forward" of sins. You alone are responsible for your actions & you alone will atone for it unless you yourself ask for forgiveness in your lifetime and are pardoned by God. Naturally, you may not be knowing which of your sins, if any, have been pardoned. So, it is your duty to keep praying to God & ask for forgiveness for any & every sin you may have committed.

Jesus is our shark repellent. Or so I've heard. This goes back to a question I asked quite some time ago in response to some nonsense I'd heard.

It makes me think of god as a pit bull (or shark), lunging at us, with Jesus in there saying "Now, Dad, be nice! Be a good boy!"

He knew that we would fall, but He still gave us a chance, we were created for the express purpose for Jesus to die for us and we have the choice to believe it or not. Just because we are unworthy doesn't mean that He doesn't love us.

No, God wanted to give us a choice. The perfect love comes with the choice. He does not think we are unworthy. He just want to know who loves Him back. He really respects our choice.

You are correct.

God does give you the right to approach Him without an intermediate.

For you are born alone, and you are burried alone.

It is your birthright, to reach God, without the help or assistance or intermediate of someone else.

If Christians say that Jesus's death was what saved you, then you surely dont need to believe in it to be accepted into Gods domain.

He died already didnt he?

I don't understand that because several people in the Bible have talked directly to God. Moses didn't need one, Abraham didn't need one. Why would any of us need one?

I agree, bettie. That's why I left Christianity when I was 5 years old. I know what Love is and that is not it!
