For the lottery do the numbers have to match and be in sequential order that it came out as? For example, the winning numbers are 1,2,3,4,5 but I have 5,4,3,2,1 do I still win? what would happen in this situation? Does the rules apply to all lottery like the Mega Millions? The lottery numbers are 16, 22, 29,39, 42 M 20
It doesnt matter what order you get them in as long as the numbers 16, 22, 29, 39, and 42 are mixed up, not the Mega Ball Number. if you have those numbers and the M 20 then you win the jackpot, but the Mega Ball number has to be 20, no matter what.

In one-number (3- or 4-digit) games such as Pick 3, Cash 3, Play 4, Pick 4, where the numbers are drawn as 123 or 1234, the order of the digits matters only if you are playing them as straight. If you are playing them as box or combo, then the order doen't matter.
On the other hand, in multi-number games such as Lotto, Fantasy 5, Mega Millions, Powerball, etc., where the numbers are drawn as 1,2,3,4,5,6, the order doen't matter!!

It depends on the lottery game. Mega millions the numbers match in numerical order. In NY we have the daily numbers and if you match them in the order they are drawn you win but if you match them in numerical order you can also win just less winnings.

They do not have to match in the order they were picked. If you have the numbers then you are a winner.
