i was adopted, and this is how i found my biological family (of course if i knew what i was in store for i would not have looked, in other words, do not think it will be a reunion like those on tv, many people find out they dont really care for the biological family as they are "different". in my case i do not agree with the way any of them are, one is a pediphile, two dope feinds, and a co-dependant, thats only the children they actually raised, there are seven of us out there that were either abandonded, or adoptded out)

Hi Judy, my name is Yvette & my Mother & I have done the whole adoption search merry go round, I will briefly tell you our story, I hope it gives you the hope you need even though our search was successful a lot of pain came with it I hope your ending will be a wonderful one.
My mother was adopted out when her biological Mother was 16, this was back in 1942 so things were different back then, my mother always knew she was adopted but was surprised to say the least when at the age of 12 she found out she was actually adopted twice...long story for another time, for as long as I can remember we went to adoption meetings, when I was 16 my mother found out that after she was born her bio mother had 2 more children placed for adoption within 4 years of my mothers birth, I was banned from the adoption meetings because as I said to the group..I can understand at 16 she had no other choice than to give my mother away, however I strongly felt that after Mum she should have learnt to keep her legs closed (maybe not the most tactful thing to say in hinde sight) anyway Mum kept going to meetings paying huge fees to these organisations that promised to find her bio Mother, it was heart breaking to see her searching with no luck, so about 12 years ago, not long after my first daughter turned one I decided enough was enough and for her Christmas pressie I was going to find her Mother, now keep in mind by this stage she had been searching for over 20 years through the agencies, all the info we had was her partial name & her place of birth, I spent 8 hours at the electoral office collecting every name that even remotly resembled what I was looking for. The next day was spent on the phone to every person I had collected from the electoral office, ringing information to get the phone numbers, after about $900.00 in phone calls and believe it or not the very last call was the winner, I found my Grand mother, I didn't tell Mum instead my Husband and I drove the 360km to my Grand mothers home, to bring her back with us, to surprise my mother, to cut a huge reunion short....it was amazing, they are identical & could easily have passed for sisters, my mother now has 7 siblings each to a different father...says a lot for my grand mother, I have nothing to do with her, but mum stays in touch, in my opinion mum would be better off with out her mother in her life, she's not a nice lady, maybe it's better to let sleeping dogs lye, but I understand your need to find your "family" I hope with all my heart it works for you. The one good thing out of this is we now have answers to medical questions. The best advice I can give you is try to do it my way, the agencies could'nt find her in over 20 years, I found her in 2 days, the saddest part of all this is that at the same time I found my Grand mother, I also found out that mums brother & sister that were also adopted out had passed away many many years before, I wish you every sucess, just always remember it's not always the happy ending we want, but for you I will pray for a perfect ending to your search, take care, Yvette

Why don't you try Genealogy.com or Ancestry.com
There are also places on line where people can search for their lost relatives.
