There are a couple of interpretations on where this song has arrived. One is believed that this song was written in or around the 1800's. Where the lyrics have stated "She'll be coming around the mountain" it doesn't portray who "she was". No name was given. But some feel that this"she" could have been "a train" that when the railroad workers were placing the tracks that this "she" was the train that soon would be coming down the tracks. Another interpretation was that " she" was a female union organizer named "Mary Harris", who was assisting coal miners unions in the Appalchain mountains.Now there is another interpretation which music historians thought that this song actually came from another song called "When the Chariot Comes" . This was a spiritual song sung by the slaves before the Civil War. Then later thru the yrs the words changed to what it is now buy the railroad workers. But the word "she" was never established.
