I never knew that they did this until this past summer. I have been surrounded by French-speakers my whole life because I live in Quebec, but am a native English-speaker. I try to avoid saying "Pardon my French" because I see that as racist, but at my job last summer, I heard someone say " 'Scuse mon anglais", which boggled my mind. However, I don't know if they started saying it as a way to get back at us for insulting them, like as a backlash, or if it's just always been this way.

I spent several years living all over France from Paris to Nice and Brest to Dijon and I never heard anyone ever make a remark in that manner. I spent most of that time working in the French education department and I never heard any university or high school students ever say pardon my English or anything along those lines. I don't think they know that we say excuse my French here and Americans who go to France wouldn't say excuse my French while there. Great question but the simple answer I think is no, they don't say excuse my English.

"Pardon my french" is a swear word? I acknowledge that I am not sure to understand the question, if someone can explain it to me buy mail, it would be cool.
We usally say "merde" when we swear involuntarily and to say sorry, we say "oups pardon" or "excusez moi" or "désolé".
When we say "pardon my english", we mean, "sorry if I make mistake when I talk to you in english", so do I now! ;o)
