If you found a small tear in a seam on a sleeve, you could fix it with one stitch if you act early. But if you wait too long, it may take nine stitches to fix it.
Therefore, acting early to fix a problem beats waiting until it's a large problem.

Hm. If I had to guess I'd guess that if you slow down and do something correctly you'll get it done right the first time and not have any mistakes whereas if you hurry the finished poduct may stink.
