Everyone here is comparing foreign specialized training to basic combat training....Nothing compares to The United States Special Operations...US Army Rangers, US Army Special Forces (Green Berets) US Army Delta Forces US Army Night Stalkers, US Navy Seals US Marine Recon...These forces are THE BEST and most elite in the world with the most elite training.
101st Screaming Eagles is Air Assault, not very specialized Airborne is more elite .
Basic Training Marines are more rigourous than The Army's training, but US Army's Spec Ops are more elite, gotta love them Rangers!

No. In my opinion, the training for the French Foreign Legion makes regular Army basic training look like a boy scout camporee.
Then again, US Army RANGER schools makes basic training look tame by comparison as well, as does SEAL training and Special Forces training.

Depends on what your job is. The training for SpecOps forces IS as tough as any. That also applies to the other services. Your basic supply guy's training is not going to be as tough as that of a Ranger, for example. I'm not saying anything bad about support troops, mind you. Without them, nobody eats, gets paid, etc.

I'm not to sure on the U.S Army but I was in the British Army but left shortly before my Pass Out because it wasn't for me. I wouldn't say the training was tough, strict with discipline and you would never make the same mistake, but it was only as tough as you made it on yourself.
For those who are physically fit and mentally determined would find the British Army phase one training fairly easy to complete.
The British Army is easily the best Army in the World.
but I would say the the Royal Marines have it harder.

At the present time arms down Israel. Training is multi faceted and very very exhaustive. An Israeli war veteran is a commando for life.
But historically it has to be the German Wehrmacht in WW2, chief military analysts the world over have regularly claimed 1 German soldier was equal to 10 Russians on the battlefield. Fighting on 2 fronts against 4 major world powers was just a bit too much even for them.

You probably need to give it to the marines in the US anyway.
We love you Brits but I've got to cheer for the home team.
Marathon runners and there are many in the service, say spec ops and seal training is devastating.
Of course they say it with a smile.

The Israelis. They have an amazing, well trained army.
They also have more at stake.

I suspect the marines have tougher training. And there are probably specialized trainings (like SEAL training) that is far more vigorous than "boot camp".
The Israelis train hard, too.
