Absolutely. If you live in the United States, you probably live a lot closer to one then you realize. There are many private American companies that have them and they are perfectly safe. My father has been working with them for over 30 years. The have very high security and safety procedures. Most people in the community do not even know it is there.

No one wants to live by ANY of the things that make the modern world possible, be they large mines, nuclear power plants, coal plants, dumps, prisons etc. The only benefit is the jobs and the services that these things provide.
That said the tradeoff cost of living next to a nuclear reactor in any western nation is very low. Modern nuclear reactors in the west are very safe. The worst "accident" in the west three mile island was equal to about 1 chest xray for those living close to the reactor (10 miles). The disaster in Chernobyl is very unlikely to happen in the west where democracies have demanded adequate safety regulation and design which was absent in the Soviet Union.
Im not going to move next to a reactor, but I am not going to move or protest if one is planned or built near where I live.

The nuclear industry has cleaned up its act since the Three Mile Island incident. So it wouldn't bother me, US and French reactors just sit and quietly produces tremendous quantities of non polluting electric power every day.
I'm glad you asked that question because people are going to have to get used to living near them one of these days after these dreamy eyed idealists finally figure out that a) solar power doesn't work after sunset and b) not every place in the USA has enough wind to power the local community 24 x 7.

Yes. The risk of a nuclear meltdown is far than the risk of being shot, the benefits of public transportation, the diversity of nearby shops/businesses,etc.
What I'm saying is that higher things rank on my priority list when considering where to live. Living near a nuclear power plant is a nonissue for me.

You'd think the answer would be NO.
Interestingly enough, in my country there is one working nuclear power plant. When there was discussion about building another one, the inhabitants of the village next to that plant were asked.
They said they would not mind to house the second plant as well.
Of course they didn't say that 30 years ago when the current plant was built. But it's never given them any problems, it provided jobs, and as they got used to it their fear subsided.

i live about 3 or 4 miles from one...i don't really think it's a big deal.
i would rather risk it exploding than see all sorts of air-polluting coal being burned in the atmosphere. nuclear energy really is better.
as long as it is properly maintained there shouldn't really be a huge problem...

If possible I would never want to live close to a nuclear reactor.
I have to admit incinerating in a few seconds would not be such a horrible death, but if I could design the planets sources of power, they would all be eco friendly. reduce, reuse, recycle!
