(Genesis 6:3) KJV
And the Lord said, "My Spirit will not strive (abide) with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years."
People have lived well over 120 years so Bible = WRONG.

"London 30.04.06 | According to data contained in Venezuela's electoral roll, Josefa Molina Lantz, ID 4.256.486, will turn 175 years today, smashing all previously reported records. The venerable lady, born 30 of April 1831, presumably native of Barinas as president Hugo Chavez, whose last contribution towards her pension was made on 19th of July 1980 when she was 149 years old, also makes her the world's oldest registered worker."

Jean- (1). That's not what it says. (2). It's still referring to age even the way you re-phrased it.

I can't believe these morons actually accuse you of taking something 'out of context'. Please...Like they don't a million times to defend some obvious contradiction or error.
I'm not familiar with this phrase so I don't know what they're talking about, being taken out of context-I think one person wrote that it was 120 years until the flood.
But, any person could see that a 'perfect' being wouldn't create anything in the first place then say we're made in God's image (a single guy-?) when we need the duality, or in some cases, multiplicity, of life.
I guess Christians will defend their silly collection of stories b/c they're too scared to think it might not be accurate. Fear is a powerful motivator.

You have got to be kidding me, that is not what it means literally. Reading the bible with a hostile spirit will not get you the answers.
By the way, seriously, if Christians wanted everyone to believe a bible that wasn't true, wouldn't they "rewrite" it so even an atheist could understand it? Wouldn't they take away the "contradictions" that atheists say it has? Come on, it hasn't been rewritten because it is the word of God, and you should read the bible searching for knowledge instead of negativity.

Many Christians don't understand that in the times the Bible was written (both Old and New testaments), allegorical stories and parables were the norm. The same way Jesus used parables to clarify issues for his disciples, the people who wrote the Bible used parables and allegories to explain important events and issues. They want to believe that everything in the Bible is exact truth, when it is clearly just metaphor much of the time: for example, in Genesis, God creates light and dark on day 1 of Creation, but only creates the sun on day 4. Contradiction much? It's obvious that the writer(s) of Genesis didn't have a clear understanding of science or physics, but they understood the importance of it. In accepting that the Bible is flawed, but that in essence it is truthful, we can move beyond the exact words and just try to understand the message. Some Christians can understand that, and some can't, simply because they are uneducated and/or close-minded, and they don't want to hear it or accept it because it is not what they were raised to believe. People just need to learn to listen, and perhaps to question their beliefs, because once you think through your beliefs, and can actually explain them to yourself, it becomes a lot easier, instead of just blindly believing.

Um, who has lived well over 120 years? I'm pretty sure that the oldest verified life (postdeluvian) was 122. There was a dominican woman who claimed to be 128, but they're still trying to find verification, since she changed her name in the middle of her life. But for the giant majority of supercentarians (people who live to be 110+) they all die at around 115-117. So, it looks like that verse is scientifically correct. Hmm...

times and dates peoples calanders have change over the years. Its like back when we were about to turn to the year 2000 some said that it had already happened like by 4 years depending on what calander you would use if you used one from 2000 years ago.
So You beleive what you must & I'll do what trips my trigger. Just don't step on my toes trying to make me beleive your ideals...

In the beginning , God let people live a lot longer. The earth needed the population to multiply. Later on someone did something that was wrong and God decided to cut there days shorter. He wasn't saying that humans would be on earth for 120 years and then die out.
But I agree that in some places the bible may well be wrong. Due to different people trying to interpret it over the years.I do believe that God Lets us get everything we need from the Bible in the way HE wants us to know it.So when we read the word,he interprets it to our soul to understand the truth of it.

Actually, you picked a rotten example because virtually no one who has reliable birth records has lived 120 years although we are getting close with the oldest people on earth right now coming in at 116 and 115.
When people have built their entire lives on the idea that admitting single flaw in the Bible will be the beginning of questioning their entire faith (like 50 years ago: "If one country falls to Communism, all its neighbors will, we have to fight in Vietnam.") then getting them to admit the POSSIBILITY of flaws, much less actual error, is unlikely.
There are people out there who believe that the four Gospel books were actually written by the apostles whose name appears on them and all the books of the Bible were written by one hand. Actually, there are people that believe the Bible was created in English and that is the language Jesus Christ spoke.

And Father God also said that "Honor you father and mother so that your days may be long in the land your Father God has given you." This invalidates your argument since obedience to Father God can add longevity to your life. So also is the scripture which says "Man (women also) can shorten their days." We can take away from our lives with wrong choices and bad living. The Bible is not wrong, most people just need an excuse for disobedience.

God said: I will set a plumb line among my people Israel, I will pass by them no more. If it is hard for people today to break from the old testament with its old outdated beliefs and superstitions, you could see what a mountain of a job, with almost impossible odds, the saints of the first century had.

First of all, you need to understand that the bible was written in a language that has been dead for a very long time, and a lot of passages just do not have a literal translation into English. Christians, in my experience, will follow what the Bible says cause they were raised to believe that God is our creator, and we must follow everything he says, no matter what and they need to follow his word or else they're life has no meaning.
