My lips are REALLY chapped right now! Not like one of those stupid people that goes around saying their lips are so chapped they're pink, my lips are so dry they are bleeding if I try to streach them enough to smile. I drink gallons of water a day, shouldn't that help?! Is there anything out there for me besides chapstick you can reccomend?

CARMAX--first of all stop licking your lips especially in the weather (any kind) then use carmax, it's especially designed for severely chapped lips. cut down on your salt intake, from there you should be fine. it will take about a month for your lips to completely heal.

You need a moisturizer AND a lip protectant. Blistex has just come out with a new product ( I can't remember the name of it but the commercial shows a little silver ball) that should work. Right now, try putting a little petroleum jelly (vaseline) on your lips to protect them. Continue drinking lots of water, and if possible stay out of the cold. If you do have to go outside, use a scarf to cover up the lower part of your face making sure your lips are not exposed at all. Run a cool mist humidifier in your home to moisten the air, since heat tends to dry out the air. It will take a few days to get back to normal.

usually chapstick is great remedy for chapped lips but maybe you need to take the big guns out.. Vaseline is great to give moisture back into those chapped lips. or you could but some liquid vitamin e on your lips. remember not to lick your lips.. and your lips could possibly be dry due to lack of moisture in your house.. maybe you have the head on high and its causing dry heat. get a humidifier and you probably see a difference in a few days.

Try Vaseline. I have to put it on many times a day to keep my lips from cracking in the winter. It's the only thing that works for me. If that doesn't help, you might want to see a doctor to make sure there's not some other problem that's causing it.

get some vitamin E capsules, prick a hole in one of them and apply the liquid directly to your lips (it will be a bit sticky) do this for a few days till the worst is over. After that get a tube of chapstick that contains moisturizers and sunscreen to prevent it from recurring. Hope this helps you as I know what it feels like as Ive been there, this method did work for me.

Vaseline works the best, better than any chapstick plus it has no perfume or dyes in it that can further irritate your lips, it has nothing to do with water it has to do with cold weather, check in the baby section of your local store that where you find it.

The person who answered above me is correct using neosporin or a triple antibiotic ointment is the best thing until you can get to a doctor if you in fact are going to see one. My lips don't get so bad they bleed but when they start getting bad I use a triple antibiotic ointment to help.

A friend of mine helped hers that were in the same condition as yours are by putting on a layer Neosporin or Polysporin ointment (like you would put on a cut) and then a layer of plain Vaseline on top of it several times a day. Maybe that will work for you too. I hope you are doing better soon. :)

My son had this problem. The dermatologist had him put a prescription cortison cream on his lips and it did heal them. Aquaphor may be a good choice for your lips. And be careful that a soap/lotion/lipstick isn't causing an allergic reaction.
