I was in conversation in our local pub the other day,and it came up about Black soldiers in the british army. Some one said that there was a few black soldiers but when it came to officers no-one seemed to remember seeing any black officers.I am sure their must be some, but how many ,are they under represented and what is the highest rank atained by a black person?

Yes there are black army officers in the british army, when I joined up a black captain was the witness for my oath of allegiance and a mate of mine in the ACF has a daughter whos in the Army as 2nd Lieutenant. So yes there are and as a black NCO in the army i can tell you there are alot of black people in the army though the majority like 2 huddle together which I think is wrong and they are from a wide variety of places, some born in the U.K some from Africa commonwealth countries, some from the Carriebean and some are directly recruited from there. My RSM was black in Phase1 training and let me tell you this guy had attitude he would 'bop' round the barracks but he was an inspiration. So I hope ive answered ur question well.

There is loads of black people in the British Army just the other day there was something on the news about the TA and how a group of them were going to Iraq and it was a small team which had about 5 black men in that one so if that is anything to go by there must be allot!!

Plus I used to live near Woolwich SE London which had barracks and I would see the Solders out and about a few of them black

I would imagine that there are some black officers, this country isn't racist anymore there are a few idiots about but there are some idiot black people as well most of us White people and I am sure most black people see us as a non racist country and they are able to get on in work etc through hard work and being the right person for the job nothing about colour!

There are I believe some black officers in the British Army but finding them may prove difficult.

Bear in mind that our most recent VC is held by a black soldier.

Yes

The British Army actually has an ethnic recruiting team to combat the impression that people of color are not welcome in the Army. There's actually a black captain in the Queen's Cavalry.

Of course their are coloured officers in the army. Me and my friend (who is black) are going to join up next year as an officer so I know for sure there will be one.
And all you people who are leaving racist remarks, grow up--- this isnt bloody 1700s.

I've not come across any black officer in the UK or the US for that matter.

Not really interested in discovering what is the highest rank attained by them.

In the end it isn't really the colour of your skin its your academic achievements.
