First off ignore the morons telling you to take pain medication or aspirin ......The meds CAN cause increased bleeding and just aren't that effective in dulling the pain of a tattoo...
I have only had the outsides of my biceps tattooed but the closest thing I can compare it to .....it's like having tiny little sparks falling down on you over and over. They go out as soon as they hit the skin...but there's always more of them falling and hitting.. It doesn't hurt so much as it is annoying. The next day (and for about 4 to 6 days later) its going to feel like a sunburn. The key is to relax, listen to music or talk to a friend to distract you. Use the best artist you can find. go to my 360 page and click on the dragon tattoo in my blog(my secret addiction) My dragon was 12 hours old in that picture...no scabs..no bleeding.
I am doing 8 to 9 hours under the needles later this month so I've been doing my research.....here is the best article I could find on pain as charted by body location
http://www.tattooz.net/default.cfm?sitem...
I hope this helps

Another thing to think about, other than pain, is where will age the best. Your stomach will stretch out like crazy if you ever have kids. Skin wont stretch as much on your ankles or shoulders as it will on say, your arms or lower back, if you were to gain any weight later on.
With that said, I have a tattoo on my shoulder... It was not very painful... I got it more on the muscle than my shoulder blade. I am not one who tolerates pain well, but to be honest, I will most likely get another tattoo. If you want to email me I could send you a photo of where it is. My email is jenuine_photo@yahoo.com
Another bit of advice: have the script part printed out in a font you like! That will eliminate any chance of you not liking what the tattoo artist picks. If you don't have very many fonts on your computer, go to dafont.com. You can download free fonts there and before you download them, you can actually type in what you want it to say and see if you like the font or not.
I just got my tattoo for Christmas, so I remember the experience pretty well.. if you need anything else, my email is above. ^

Even though tatoos are popular in some places they aren't in others, so if you care about finding a decent job or not having it stretch that much as you gain weight or begin to wrinkle, I would say don't you might regret it if you vein like me. I have to say you are young to be getting your first tattoo so I am a little concerned. You want to make sure that the needle your using is sterile you could contact HIV hepatitis C among other risks that are involved Aso, make sure the person doing it is reputable other wise you will have to cover it, If you absolutely have to have it try your back or some place easily covered up! Directly on the bone hurt me the worst.

I have eight tattoos on various parts of my body and all of them caused some discomfort. Stay away from areas that are thin skinned, such as ankles, hands, feet, etc. I would suggest that you also stay away from lower back tattoos as they have lately gotten some bad press, but again, it's a personal choice. Just make sure that wherever you get it, that you TAKE CARE of it. Make sure you follow the tattoo artists' instructions to the letter in order to avoid infection and ink lossage in the tattoo.

I've heard that upper arm (http://www.malutattoo.com/tribal-custom-sleeve-tattoo-upper-arm.jpg) is one of the least painful places to get tattooed. That's where I have my only tattoo so far, and it really isn't that painful. Some of the worst places to get them are: wrist, ribs, and achilles tendon/heel. Upper arm is also a good place because it's easily hidden by t-shirt sleeves, so you don't need to worry about taking special measures to cover it.

it' not where is it going to hurt the most or least, it comes down to where it is going to look the best. show your ideas to whoever is doing the tattoo for you and ask their opinion, if they have been doing it for a while the can give you the best location. either way you are still going to have some pain and the healing process is the same. good luck and trust your own instincts.

Areas where you have the least body fat are going to be the most painful.
Plus any areas where you have veins close to the skin (ie your wrist, upper arm) are probably going to not be the best either.
I hear that although your back is thin, its not that painful but I don't know why.

The ankle is the most painful spot, and the upper arm is the least painful. The upper back is not that painful. When you get it make sure you have A and D ointment to keep it from getting chafed and infected.Keep out of the sun until the skin heals.

The best place for your first tattoo, someplace discreet, like your back. Please try not to get anything that is wordy, you may regret it later. Get something symbolic like you said the stars, sounds nice, but leave off the words. You know in your heart what it means.
