depression is caused by inconsiderate people who cannot be bothered to look at the situation from the sufferers prospective. Or by situations that the sufferer feels powerless to change. often as a result of feeling inadequate or being put upon. Depression can be debilitating, or may manifest in alcohol or drug misuse. this will lead to the sufferer feeling worthless and possibly suicidal. many things may lead to depression, but its unlikely to one thing alone. usually the sufferer will have many problems, but one will be the one that tips them over into depression. usually the sufferer feels to blame for something and cannot forgive themselves. Just remember that depression is a normal human response, and don't rely on anti depressants as they will ultimately make things worse with prolonged usage. Good luck

Depression can be caused by several factors. It is up to the individual to find it. Mostly depression is caused by a combination of events in the real world and a form of proneness (genes).

There are 2 causes of depression. One is situational (death of a family member, end of a relationship, sick child, etc.) and the other is organic. Organic means that there is truly a chemical imbalance in the brain that must be treated with medication to even it back out. Situational depression usually doesn't need medication--just some counseling and if you are on medication, you won't need it for long.

The most common cause is simply a "chemical imbalance".
But many of other things can bring depression on. An illness, loss of loved ones, relationship trouble, etc. All of these things, bring on Stress and stress can reek havoc thru out you're mind and your body.

Many things can cause depression. I am clinically depressed which means it was inherited for one of my parents. I was suicidal at one point, but I'm better now. Any major change or emotional trauma can cause depression.

There are MANY causes...
Mine was caused by 8 severe vitamin deficiencies. Couse my doctor said I would be on antidepressants for the rest of my life and I needed to LIVE WITH IT.... lol...then I fired him...the drugs were worse than the disease and then I cured it by visiting an herbalist and addressing what I was 'low' in.
Trust your gut...NO ONE knows your situation better than you do.

just some thoughts....
it could be situational, like stress in your life or an event that causes you to be upset and you dwell...
no one to talk to, you might feel alone....
biologically, chemicals could be unbalanced, less "happy" hormones and all that good stuff.
i learned that it was different for everyone...
if you need more info, i suggest wikipedia-ing it, and if you feel you might be depressed, talk to someone (friend, parent, psychologist...), it could only help...
