some general tips

if you have off road running shoes, with cleats, wear them
clothes - no cotton! shorts, t-shirt, sports bra, socks, all should be synthetic fabrics. cotton will chafe and give you blisters.
put your hair back in a pony tail if you can, if not, pin it up.
eat a high carb breakfast - I like oatmeal
stretch before you run

When you run cross country you either (depending on grade) run 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 5 1/2 miles for a race, during practice you should run at leats 2 times the distance, so you are used to the distance, even after practice, you should run/sprint hills.

If you are running up-hill then your muscles are doing much more work than on flat surfaces, it is best to run uneven terrain.

During practice when you do sprints on the track, go all out, then you will gain stamina and speed. Don't drink Gatorade before meets, it only slows you down. drink lots of water before the race, but remember, your body takes up to half a day to absorb the water, so drink A LOT before you go to bed, and eat food with lots or carbohydrates before the race (like pasta and macaroni).

Finally, during a race you should always look at one spot on the course (if possible) and focus on getting to that spot before anything else, i like to hum a song in my head. These simple distractions help you not think of how tired you are. Start the first 200 or so feet fast, almost sprinting, then settle into a pace that is comfortable for you. At the end of the race, no matter how tired you are SPRINT. after the race if you just walk around for about 2 minutes then you'll be fine. You CAN run all out at the end of the race, thats the attitude you should take.

If you are running on hard ground, some really good running shoes are the Asus. You want to wear something you can stay cool in....I don't know where you live or how cold it is. I usually wear shorts and if it's cold, a sweater with a shirt under it. If I get too hot, I take my sweater off while I'm running and tie it at my waste. You want your hair tied up. You want to bring plenty of water to return to and make sure you stretch.

If you're running tomorrow, then do what you've been doing when you run: same shoes, same socks, same clothes.

I assume you've run this distance before and are in good shape to do so, so you don't want to blow it with new shoes that blister or something. Go with what you know.

Warm up well before the start. Maybe an hour before, stretch and loosen up. Then some very short mild jogs.

Good Luck

Nike Shox seem to help people with running. If you don't have a pair and you go out to buy them you'll see that they can easily cost you over $100. There are cheaper ones, but those aren't really cheap either. You can probably get them for around $75. I got mine for $110.
