How are the Spanish Flu and the Bird Flu related?

They are both common names for a strain of Influenza A virus. Spanish flu, H1N7, hit in 1918, and its believed to have come from birds. "Bird flu" or Avain influenza H5N1 is currently endemic in birds in southeast asia.
