It works wonders, but the side affects arn't good. I had very very very dry mouth/lips when i was into my course of it. It was hard to handle, in a way i prefered having spots. The dryness got better after I stopped though like beansarebest says above my skin has also been much dryer since. If I had a time machine I really don't know if I would do it again. And the spots came back a few months after I stopped taking it anyway, though not as bad.

I used Roaccutaine about 5 years ago and had to have it prescribed through the hospital and go back for regualar check ups. During the treatment it dries up your skin quite a lot. To be honest it was the only thing that got rid of my acne though it is starting to come back a bit now, however I have been left with pretty bad eczema that I never had before which is uncomfortable and unsightly. If I had the option again whether to take it or not I think I wouldn't and I know quite a few people who have avoided the treatment because of the side effects.

NATURAL ACNE PROTOCOL
1/ Never, ever touch your face.
2/ Use 3 facecloths to wash your face, one to soap on, one to soap off with very hot water, one to rinse off with ice cold water, in that order, once a day.
3/ If you are under 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A once a day with a full meal
4/ If you are over 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A twice a day with a full meal.
Do not get pregnant while taking vitamin A. Do not take any more, like Accutane, it will stop you growing.
5/ Never, ever. pick, squeeze or pop your spot. Read number 1 again.
6/ Do this for 90 days.
7/ Invest in a brand new pillow and 2 new or more pillow cases to double bag' your pillow. HOT wash every couple of days.

A bit of advice given to me as a teenager, a bit of science as I am studying allergic reactions and vitamin A is a part of that. A bit of research: I sat in a lecture at the back and watched the acne prone pick at their faces, those with the worse acne touched their faces 32 times in an hour, the clearest complexions didn't touch their faces even once. I have circumstantial evidence that acne is the result of dermatophyte transfer from hands to face...where it does not get washed off and is well fed by hormones, sweat a
nd oil...just a hypothesis... But it would explain why vitamin A is so effective as vitamin causes skin to remove dermatophytes.

The secret is never to touch the spots

Tips on how to treat acne and achieve perfect clear skin in as little as 7 days?

I had roaccutane about 7 years ago for severe acne at the time. I had tried something else first from the doctor but that hadnt worked and it had just made matters worse. You have to get referred to the hospital to get roaccutane and once you start taking it you must go back to the hospital for regular blood tests to ensure its not damaging your liver. Also it can cause depression as my acne got worse before it started to go so you would need to know that first. But overall it got rid of my acne but i still suffer with the occasional breakout for normal hormone reasons.

Roaccutane ( isotretinoin,) it is for acne where scarring is occurring. It is an excellent and very potent preparation, but, because of its potential for side effects it is NOT prescribable by GPs, only from specialist dermatologists.

It can produce anaemia and white blood cell suppression. Psychiatric disorders and problems with skin are however the most common problems.

Roaccutane sounds like what you're looking for. You can get it on prescription from your GP but it's quite powerful and I think has some side effects so it only used to be used for extreme cases. Don't know if that's still the case though...
