PETA is more a political organization than a rights-watch group. (Kind of like NOW.)
Keep your donations local. Give to the local animal shelter. Your dollars will be better used.

They do radical things, and are sometimes harmful to people. PETA kills more animals a year than any hunter ever thought of. However if local animal shelters and PETA shelters didn't put to sleep the animals that they couldn't find homes for, there would be an over population.
I would check out donating to one of your local shelters, they could spend the money on trying to find a home for the animals. They will more than likely use the money for a good cause. The best dog I ever had came from a county shelter.
I am just a country boy who raises cattle for food, I hunt and it helps keep down the population, and I think we should take care of our animals. However, I think there are alot of things out there to donate to that might help preserve our humanity.
examples:AIDS, CANCER, CYSTIC FIBROSIS, HEART DISEASE, MS, HUNGER.
I care alot for animals, however my dog is not as important as any human in the world.

As a animal rights person I stir away from peta just from the fact that I myself think they go way too far at times. Peta does more harm then good.
I myself support ASPCA (www.aspca.org)
and IDA (www.idausa.org)
P.S. I stand up for animals in a lawful and peaceful way.
These are God's creatures and deserve respect and kindness.
I speak for those who can't!

PETA is more interested in political rhetoric than helping animals. Their administrative costs, like that of many "animal rights" organizations, are extremely high.
You should consider a local, no-kill animal shelter. The money will get to the animals. In Dallas, we have Operation Kindness. They are a worthy organization.

YES, they are a radical extreamest group that uses the donations to conduct disruptive protests and other civil disobediance. It would be great if they simply collected money and used it to help injured animals as they want you to beleive, but thats not the case. Your donations would be better served by being dontated to a local SPCA, they are an honest animal help establishment.

BE VERY CAREFUL THERE ARE A LOT OF DISHONEST PEOPLE AROUND. EVEN LEGITIMATE CHARITY'S ONLY SPEND 20% OF THE MONEY ON ANIMALS IN NEED.
THE PEOPLE WHO COLLECT MONEY FOR CHARITY PAY THEMSELVES FIRST AND WHATS LEFT OVER GOES TO THE ANIMALS

Think some more before donating to this radical group. If they had thieir way, there would be no new drugs or heart surgeries.

No, it's not true at all.
Why are people so quick to believe something negative but are slow and suspicious of the positive.
Go to PETA's website.
