I know this sounds strange, but no programs seem to work on Windows ME (Microsoft Office, Macromedia Flash MX) but do work on Windows 2000.

What would be the consequences of changing my operating system from ME to 2000?

Or even upgrading to XP?

Thanks

i installed w2k on my brothers comp that had me. you might want to check for a bios update. the only issue id had was with the ps2 mouse but a usb optical mouse worked fine. the machine is up and running fine. both programs came out at about the same time. i wouldn't try xp,w2k is a stable system. feel free to email natallbad@yahoo.com if i can be more help good luck.

That is strange, those programs should work on Windows Me From what your saying I'm not sure Windows Me is the problem.I do know this Windows 2000 is more for business then a home user it is a very stable operating system.I would try a reinstall of Windows Me because a bad install is not a unusual thing.Try formatting your hard drive and do a clean install of Windows Me.I have not used Windows 2000 in a long time but it is a little harder to use then Windows Me.I think if your going to upgrade your operating system Windows XP Pro would be a better choice.

The Windows 98 / Me versions of your software aren't (directly) compatible with Windows 2000 / XP.

Try to download the 2000 / XP versions from the manufacturer's websites. Just remember to keep a record of any serial numbers, they should work on the new versions.

If you're computer isn't too dinosaur, get the xp, it's way better. Lots of thoughtful stuff to make life easier in it.
