Jalisco is a State, where exactly are you taking about? There are many small towns that are absolutely safe, you also have Puerto Vallarta, which I've only visited but seemed very safe, and there's the capital Guadalajara, a huge beautiful city, where as in all big cities there are safe areas and not too safe ones. People are friendly, a lot of services, I liked living there. Hope this helps.

i'm not sure what city you mean, but Puerto Vallarta is in Jalisco and the crime rate is extremely low. All of mexico basically is. Just like the US big cities, border towns and a few others can be dangerous. Do you homework if you are planning to move there. Maybe go stay for a month or two first
