From a couple of standpoints they are amazingly accurate.

1) Kosher seafood must have fins and scales. The bible talks about some sea creatures that have fins but no scales but not of any creature that has scales but no fins implying that such a creature does not exist. To this day, no such water-breathing creature (ie sea snakes don't count) has been discovered.

2) Among the non-kosher land animals, the bible mentions 3 (general classes...ie camels and llamas are 1 class in that they can interbreed and the offspring is fertile) that chew their cud but don't have completely cloven hooves and 1 that has cloven hooves but doesn't chew its cud. Same result, the bible is absolutely accurate.

Is shrimp or pork bad to eat?

First of all they are scavengers. If you go back in the Old Testament; God distinguished what foods we should eat and which one's we shouldn't. Now if you decide too; that's your choice, but some groups don't because it's an abomination to eat anything unclean. Isn't our body the temple of God as stated in 1Cor.3:18-19? We supposed to take care of our body and be in good health (3John 1:2).
Shrimp are made to eat the garbage under the sea floor; they carry diseases too. The pig is a scavenger too; it eats the slop on the earth and if you looked under a microscope of cooked ham; you will find worms in it. You really want tricinosis and diseases and things in your body?

** TEXTS THAT INVOLVE THE CLEAN AND UNCLEAN MEATS:
GEN.18:7-8; LEV.11; 20:25; DEUT.14; ISAIAH 66:17; EZEK.22:26; DAN.1:8; MATT.3:4; LUKE 24:41-43; ACTS 10:10-14; 1COR.3:16-17; 9:27; 2COR.6:17; AND REV.21:8.
----IF THE CLEAN AND UNCLEAN MEATS WEREN'T VALID FOR TODAY; THEN WHY OH WHY WOULD THE LORD PLEAD WITH FLESH NOT TO EAT UNCLEAN MEAT--(ISAIAH 66:15-17). ALSO NOTICE DEUT.14:4 "SHALT NOT EAT ANY ABOMINABLE THING" AND REV.21:8 "...THE ABOMINABLE SHALL HAVE THEIR PART IN THE LAKE WHICH BURNETH WITH FIRE AND BRIMSTONE: WHICH IS THE SECOND DEATH."

What are the food laws? The food laws stated in Leviticus simply state that We should not eat those things that God put on this earth to clean it up. Those thing that eat carrion those fish that are bottom feeders because they eat the excrement of all aquatic life. Mammals such as rodents , canines, bears, crows, vultures ,etc, etc. God is the great designer , He knows better than we do what is and is not good for us. Some say the dietary laws are done away with in the new testament . It is a flat out lie.
Upon careful reading of their supportive scripture you will find it says "that which I created to be consumed". thanks.

They were health laws brought about by experience of illness caused by eating certain foods under some conditions. The law againt eatiing pork is due to trichosomiasis.

Perhaps some of them came about through trial and error. If people ate something and got sick, they would make rules about not eating it. Religion tends to reflect societal values, so some of those rules got incorporated into various religions. Of course, once you have rules, people will derive other rules from them and make up weird reasons they think those rules should be rules. So, in religion, you get a bunch of rules, some of which had, at one time, some basis behind them.

BTW, your links don't work. The last part of them gets cut off.

well when Scientist did research on the clean and unclean meats in the Bible they realised that all the unclean meats where very bad for peoples health. most Christians believe that these laws are for the Jewish only. that is like saying he only wants the Jewish to be healthy. i for one dissagree. i am Christian and i Follow the Dietary laws.

They are in no way meant for health purposes! They are a part of our obedience to God -- if one asks "why" we should follow God's commandments, one would find reasons NOT to follow His commandments. Those commandments are part of the Jewish covenant with God -- not for gentiles!

You would all do well to study the real Judaism instead of the JudeoChristian version!

I don't know if they are scientific, but my wife went through a Bible based diet plan. They only ate things that were eaten in Bible times, and it proved to be a very healthy diet and she lost weight. She felt alot better too. I'm guessing that since God made us, He knows what fuel we would run best on.
