You find them on palm trees in tropical climates. Caribbean, Maldives, etc.

The origins of this plant are the subject of controversy, with some authorities claiming it is native to southeast Asia, while others claim its origin is in northwestern South America. Fossil records from New Zealand indicate that small, coconut-like plants grew there as long as 15 million years ago. Even older fossils have been uncovered in Rajasthan and Maharashtra, India. Regardless of its origin, the coconut has spread across much of the tropics, probably aided in many cases by sea-faring peoples. The fruit is light and buoyant and presumably spread significant distances by marine currents.

Palm trees

These are tropical palms, not like the date palm which grows in southern Europe.

There are some lovely coconut palm trees by the beach on the Queensland coast in Australia..

The term coconut refers to the fruit of the coconut palm.

The coconut palm is grown throughout the tropical world, for decoration as well as for its many culinary and non-culinary uses; virtually every part of the coconut palm has some human use.

They grow on palm trees in very warm places such as the Caribbean.

coconuts have a hard hairy outer shell and are hard to break into.
on the inside is a thick creamy flesh contain fluids and then in the centre a natural milk.

stereotypically, these become the basic foods for people stranded on desert islands
