In some areas yes. The post WW2 immigrants (Greeks, Italians etc.) assimilated well into the community while retaining and celebrating their heritage. Some ethnic groups that migrated later in the 20th century were allowed to group together in their own little communities and made no attempt to become part of the wider Australian community. This has caused may problems with race driven violence between some of these groups (brought over from their mother countries), and a failure to become "Australian" (alot of these people don't consider themselves Australian). This may change with time as more generations are born here but the racial hatred from the parent's home country seems to be drilled into each new generation to the point where they don't even know why they hate each other.

I think australia in general is a tollerant society

we have in many cases had multiculturalism thrust upon us, but this being said so long as nothing changes our easy going way of life or threatens to destroy a part of that then we will continue to roll with the punches.

However as dispolayed in the cronulla riots early last year if a group or individuals treaten our way of life we have the ability to band together and atttempt to remove the treat.

Frankly all societys are forced into multi culturalism these days, i do think australia and australians in general have responded in a acceptable and responsible form. Compared to the rerst of the world well I do think we are doing at least ok at best well.

in anycase I am sure this raises more questions than answers but i hope it helps

if you are asking is Australia a safe place to live, the answer is yes.
the answer to your question as written is no.
I think multiculturalism is another way to say fragmented.
things may turn out okay with more time, but in my mind the biggest problem is that it doesn't really mean much to be an Aussie.
it's just a place to make money.

No.

Because our government lets them get away with whatever they want which has encouraged a disrespect for the Australian people.

It is rare for other cultures to blend into our society and change their habits as we would be expected to do if we were in their country.

We now have certain cultural and religious groups claiming that they have more right to be here than the aborigines!!!
