I have a husband who constantly has the TV on espn. I am not crazy about sports, but I have learned to apprieciate and even enjoy them sometimes. Maybe your girlfriend does not understand the game, try explaining it to her. Maybe you could even play a sport together (ie basketball, football might be fun ;-) Also, maybe if she knew a little about the players she might want to see them play.
Everybody needs space and time for themselves. Encourage her to find something she enjoys on her own. Good luck!!

Depends on the girl. It seems you have been running into the wrong ones. If you want a girl that loves watching sports go meet them at a sports bar. And if you want a girl that gives you space, well those are just harder to look for because they don't have a label. Most likely the ones that gives you space are the ones that don't expect to get a phone call everyday, don't expect to be by you 24/7, that's not clinging, etc. Trust me there are females out there that do understand "space."

Not all girls do. It took me 1 ex husband and about 5 ex boyfriends to get it right. Finally I realized they don't have to spend every waking moment with me. Now when my current bf of (5 years now) does his thing, I do mine.
He gives me at least 1 days notice so I can make plans. He stays at the house and watches his game but he also cleans up the mess before I get home. He even sprays a little air freshner before I walk in.
This saves an arguement later.
If you want you girl to give you "your time" be upfront and tell her. Hey, I love you and like being with you but sometimes I want to watch my game with my friends or even alone." Why don't we make a deal, when I watch a game why don't you go ____ cause you know I really don't like doing that but you do.
Compermise and communication are very key in a relationship.
Yes girls do that too. We need our space as well.

That sporting event or tv is a challenge. A challenge to her power of seduction over you. Im not tlaking about sexual seduction. That TV or sporting event is something that will take your attention away form her. Its an ego thing. SOmething immportant enough to take you away from her no motter how hot she is or how speial she is to you. that even will always for a moment make her second.
That is why women get upset over it. Its a challenge and one tha tis unwinnable . Its a good thing though as well shows you have interest other than her but if you think about it in those term it makes total sense

Because girls are plain wierd. We like feeling wanted. And if we feel like we have to compete with a football on the screen to get your attention, that want-o-meter will zero itself. If you want her to stop being cranky, invite her to watch the game with you. Be cuddly and generous. If she enjoys it, than that's terrific for both of you. If she truly dislikes the game, she'll eventually give you your space. And if this doesn't work, gently remind her that some of the interests that she has (that completely puzzle and bore you) are better left with her...as sports are with you.

Women shouldnt get mad when thier men watch sports, unless its a continous thing and their wives feel second to their sports games.
I let my husband watch sports, but I make sure that we have quality time before he watches his sports, and the same with me. If i want to do something, i make sure my husband gets my full attention before I watch my show. Its all about compromising, and guys cant watch EVERY game! and Women cant watch EVERY show!

I used to watch NASCAR with my man. I even picked out a car and everything. I was learning alot about it, but that was then. We're no longer together. Now when sports are on I usually find something else to do.

if you guys live together, then the girl need to back off. everyone needs alone time and she'll just have to learn to deal, but if you dont, and youre haning out together, and then you turn on a sprts game, then she has the right to be annoyed. do that on your own time, not during the time you said you'd spend w/ her.

Because they don't understand why we can enjoy sports so much. Much like guys can't understand why women enjoy shows like Oprah and Grey's Anatomy.
