Is it possible to copy a mobile phone sim card?
so that two phones could share one phone number and recieve the same text messages?

You can copy your sim card on to the computer and transfer the info on the sim card in the other phone!! Use the software that came with the phones...

You can't make two phones have the same number, but as far as duplicating the numbers on a SIM Card, it's possible. All you need is a special SIM Card Information Backup device, like this one:

You can get a card reader and try copying it.

I've even see small USB to SIM adapters.

I believe SIM cards are just called MicroSD cards.

You probably wouldn't be able to copy this in Windows. Would probably have to use Linux or some kind of stand-alone copier.

Doesnt really make sense here. But yes, you can set it as save to phone and sim card.
